Colina del Paraiso

Lovely townhouse with roof top terrace and jacuzzi. Jacuzzi was clean and was filtered after 5 days. Never went to the pools, as pool bar was not open. Apartment clean with table and chairs on ground floor terrace, nothing on first floor terrace……could have done it a couple of chairs. Roof top terrace with jacuzzi, great. Enjoyed our stay here but would not stay again. There is NOTHING within walking distance, not even a shop. There is a bar and restaurant on site but I found it expensive and uninspiring (it is independent of the hotel). We took taxis to the local supermarket to get supplies in and although we would have liked to eat out the cost of taxis to Benahavís, which I had been led to believe was only 1.5km away was €20 one way and the same for Estepona, which was further. We considered hiring a car but they were expensive unless we picked up from Gibraltar or Malaga airport and decided it wasn’t worth it for our needs. Something to consider, if you stay here is……there is nothing in the kitchen cupboards……when I have stayed at apartments before, people leave basic stuff they have not used, as we did. Such as salt, pepper, oil, cleaning stuff and lavatory rolls……..NOTHING…..you need to bring your own cleaning stuff or pay for a cleaning package! Don’t be put off….. just be prepared!

The accommodation was lovely. There is a 200 euro deposit to pay on arrival. We had a "deluxe" two bedroom house with a jacuzzi. (We were given a 3 bedroom house with a sticker over the one door that we couldn't use) The jacuzzi was at a fixed temperature. Not the hottest but perfectly good on a sunny day. The roof terrace had 3 sunbeds (although one was a bit battered and broken). The bedrooms are a good size with en suites. There was a double and twin room. The double also had a balcony (but nowhere to sit). The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge was very big with french doors to the outdoor dining area with table and chairs with a good mix of shade and sunshine. There were 3 pools of different sizes. At the time of year that we went, there were very few guests so we had the pool to ourselves a lot of the time. I imagine there'd be a fight for sunbeds at peak times. You need a car to get around. The big supermarkets are a 30 minute walk away down the hill. I wouldn't have wanted to walk back with shopping! There are tennis and Padel courts. We tried Padel, which was great fun . Overall, would thoroughly recommend

Just home from a lovely week stay at Colina Del Paraiso. We decided not to hire a car - mainly due to us not being 💯 comfortable with driving on the other side of the road. It is doable but in hindsight a car would have probably enhanced the holiday for us (we will do this next time). But we made do with a few taxi’s here and there. All cabs were on a meter and only one driver took us on a ‘scenic route’. The accommodation is dated but at the price point we paid - I wasn’t too disappointed. The town house was huge! So much space inside and outside and a lovely Jacuzzi on the roof. We had house 15 which was close to the first pool and was very handy for popping back to have lunch or grab an ice cream. The stairs inside the house could have been a problem if the children were younger, but there was a banister to hold onto when coming down (being organised with towels and drying off etc is a must). They had the potential to be very slippy. Air con was absolutely freezing, being able to close the vents on certain rooms was great as one of the rooms got too cold in the nighttime, as soon as we closed the vent it was perfect! The staff were super helpful - when extra pillows were requested it was no problem, ordering taxi’s for us from and to the complex. We ate in the restaurant twice food was lovely. The fish at bbq night was fab and again the staff were attentive and friendly. Our towels were changed half way through our stay, along with fresh bed linen, bins emptied which we weren’t expecting, so that was a nice surprise. The cleaner kindly took all our recycling away with her too. No problems with the deposit which we were cautious of after reading the reviews. The room was checked when we handed the keys back and the £200 hold on my card was cancelled and a receipt was given to me there and then. I would be happy to recommend to my friends and return again (with a car).

The first apartment we got was disgusting, smell of mold, found silverfish and lot of bugs. At first they didin't want to give us a new apartment but then did. The second apartment didin't smell but was not clean, spiderweb in several corners and ants everywhere. Really uncomfortable beds and the lobby said they could not do anything about it. The pools were dirty also. As seen on photos it was disgusting. They were taken when we arrived.

Lovely spot! Perfect for a relaxing and chilled out holiday. We stayed in a 3 bed apartment which was really spacious and had an enormous balcony with sun loungers and large outdoor dining table. So peaceful in the morning sitting having a coffee and looking out over the beautiful views. 2 bathrooms so ideal for us and our daughters. Kitchen well enough equipped to cook full meals if you would want to. The pool areas never seemed overly busy despite it being school holidays and the pools themselves didn't open until 10am - you could spot the pool guys cleaning and checking the pools early morning - so no one rushing to 'save' sunbeds which meant we could wander down at any time really and find a space. We ate several times in the restaurant - again beautiful views down towards the coast, lovely ambience and excellent quality food. We had a car (I do think you need one for this place, unless you are happy just staying on site and using their restaurant every evening) so we were able to visit a few local places. Benahavis is a pretty town with plenty of restaurants and gorge/nature walks which we didn't do due to the heat but probably great in low season. We also visited Ronda which was stunning - on recommendation of the receptionist we went in the evening which was much quieter and slightly cooler! Again, a good selection of places to eat and we had a good meal out at one of the restaurants in the side streets. The nearest beach is about a ten minute drive. We would definitely return and recommend to family and friends.

Upon leaving they have tried to keep our deposit of 200 euros that is payable when you check in. We weren't told about this. Upon leaving they have tried keeping the deposit because we left a few items in the kitchen. No bin bags were provided! We took majority of our rubbish away. Taxi prices Marbella 1 way 20 euro Supermarket 10 euro 1 way. Nearest beach about 17 euro. Average experience travelled as a 5 person party 2 kids.
