Royal Gateway Motel by OYO

I recently had a frustrating experience at this motel. When I stopped at this location to provide a courtesy notification that their guest would be arriving a little bit later this evening, I was met by a rude and hostile employee working behind the desk. She kept demanding a $200 cash deposit even though I attempted to explain to her that I was not the registered guest. She proceeded to yell at me that no animals were allowed and no service animals either! Weird, since I was not staying there and I did not have an animal with me while in the office. The unprofessionalism and poor treatment were shocking. Save yourself the hassle and head up the road to the Sugarloaf Mt. Hotel. They offer good deals and, most importantly, treat their guests humanely, with respect, dignity and a little courtesy.

The room had dirty floors,no screens on the windows and a strong smell of bug spray . We were afraid to walk around this room without shoes on. Economy perhaps but if you sat on the toilet the bathroom door was blocked from opening. We read in the reviews,after the fact because our naive friend booked the room for us,that several people had encountered bed bugs. I didn't see any but the room may have been fumigated. My husband and I and our friend rented this room for an event we were attending. We hadn't seen each other in a year and the day after we stayed we were all sick with headaches and fatigue... My husband said he kept smelling that room for the whole next day. Stay somewhere else. It's worth the money .

Arrived to check in to have a a child tell me he couldn’t check in, waited for the actual employee to show up and checked in. Booked a room with kitchenette and was given a room without one and no explanation or apologies. Appears they double booked our room and gave us what was leftover. Property is an accident in waiting. Barely any room for vehicles to maneuver, they converted one of the drive ways into additional parking space which may result in a drunk driving plowing through your car and the entryways to each unit requires a 6” step; so definitely not handicap nor elderly friendly. While we did not have our service animal with us we were told very thoroughly that no service animals are allowed on property which is against the ADA “ Service Animals are protected under the rules for Titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This means that service animals must be allowed any place the public is allowed, including restaurants, hotels, and hospitals.” After being told this we were informed that we were not allowed to smoke while staying at this property; in the room, the parking lot, or on the street. Fridge was not cleaned and contained food from prior guests smeared onto the walls. The rear windows are sealed shut leading to an atmosphere of being jailed in, front and only window to open has no screen, so cannot enjoy the fresh Bend air I came for. Then either out of ignorance or in an attempt to extort guests for additional funds they’ve put oil paintings in the bathroom next to the shower when it’s common knowledge that humidity will destroy them…. Not very hospitable place and if we had an option to rescind and stay elsewhere we would have.

Royal Gateway got fairly negative reviews, some bordering on racist in the past. That is now passed! Spent two nights there and found it clean, quiet and comfortable, although a bit tight quarters. Bed was good, bathroom clean as was the entire room. Small fridge and microwave were handy. If you want in room coffee or a continental breakfast then stay elsewhere! Bright your own soap and shampoo! Would stay here again.

I actually never got to stay. Booked online, confirmed and the next day I got a batch email with 3 other codes cancelling. Called motel to ask why, they said idk. So I asked to book and, here’s the kicker… DOUBLED! I call BS. This is deceptive at best.
