Benxi Hotels with Pools

This is second time to visit this hotel, mainly for the fact that it is one of the few better hotels in Benxi and the only one with a swimming pool. The pool is not big, but enough to swim a few laps up and down. The adjacent gym is available, but unfortunately, according to hotel policies guests can only use the gym or gym+pool at the same time and not at different times like early morning and late afternoon or evenings. So the gym is pretty much abandoned, nobody uses it. The changing room is cramp and not very clean. Hot water from the showers is acceptable. Perhaps the two ladies and guy at the counter can do more to maintain the changing rooms rather than sit down all day playing with their phones. The guy waiting at the pool area acting as ”lifeguard” for a 1.3-1.5m deep pool is not necessary at all. The room we booked was fine. Warm, spacious and clean. The interior is clearly showing its age and we saw scratches on the bathroom door from years of sliding in and out. It would be nice to have power outlets on both sides of the bed for personal phones and tablets. The bathroom was surprisingly cramp, however the shower provided ample space. The restaurants and shops inside all looked closed inside the hotel so we visited a small shopping mall next door for food and groceries. For Benxi, it will be hard to find anything better because there aren't many options out there. This is why we'll probably come back again.

The service in the hot spring area is particularly good! But the hotel room department disappointed us this time. Our two families of six stayed in two triple rooms with tatami mats. Fortunately, we moved all three tatami mats to the side against the wall. At 9:30 in the morning, we were sleeping The child was awakened by a painting that suddenly fell off the wall. The place where the painting fell was the bunk where the child was sleeping! Looking back now, I feel extremely scared. When the waiter came to the room, he immediately helped the wall painting up and stood it in the corner, and then said, ”If you don't touch it, it can't fall down”! Such excuses to shirk responsibility made us very angry. The hotel room duty manager asked the leader for instructions and gave us two plans. One was to compensate us with 200 yuan in cash, and the other was to compensate us for six hot spring tickets, and delay the check-out of the room until 1 p.m. , our request was to have one room free of charge, but was rejected! We were not in the mood to have breakfast or continue to soak in the hot springs. My heart rate soared to 180. We had no intention of arguing with the hotel about this matter. Accepting 6 hot spring tickets was actually of no use to us. It took us 6 hours to drive back and forth to Benxi. Soaking in hot springs. How can you soak in hot springs if you don’t live here? Shocked, we packed our luggage in a hurry and checked out early at 11 o'clock! It’s the Chinese New Year, it’s really frustrating!
