This place exceeded all expectations. It was our first time in Fiji and we were blown away with how friendly and accepting the local people were. The resort catered for everything and had a wonderful mix of adventure and relax, as well as fun activities that taught us about their culture. The dive centre is as professional a set up as I've seen anywhere, and the shark dives were mind blowing. The food was amazing the service second to known. We will definitely go back here when we can.

Diver’s paradise. Amazing shark divers on the east end of the lagoon and beautiful soft coral dives on the west end. The guides are flexible and willing to go wherever the divers want. Seeing tiger sharks (both at The Cathedral and at another location) is an unforgettable experience. The resort is magical. The staff’s hospitality is world class. The singing as you arrive and leave is very touching. Excellent food, beautiful grounds, amazing culture. Can’t wait to go back! Shout outs to Freddy, Paul, Nix, Jerry, Tusi, Filo, To, Seta, etc!

It has been a little over a month since I returned from Beqa Lagoon Resort, and I can’t seem to forget the wonderful feeling! The excellent food, the island setting and the lush, carefully maintained grounds were all part of the experience. But what really has stuck with me was the friendliness and sincere warmth of the staff. Many of the staff live in nearby villages and “commute” on foot to the Resort. They are just wonderful and they soon learned many of our names! (I would mention a few names but I would not want to inadvertently omit anyone!) The opportunity we had to visit one of the villages and a primary & secondary school was truly a cultural treat. I don’t dive, unfortunately, but several others in the group took the onsite certification course and seemed very pleased with the program. If or, I hope, when I return to Fiji, the Beqa Lagoon Resort will be at the top of my list!

Kate and I had a great trip. We went for the diving and it did not disappoint, the reef was vibrant with hard and soft corals and a great variety of fish and critters. The night dive was awesome(thanks Jerry) and the main attraction, the shark dive with tigers, bulls, lemons and tawny nurse sharks really felt like a privilege to be there. Well managed by the boat and dive crew, great shark knowledge from Brandon and the video taken by Nix was better than our own stills and video grabs. Many thanks for the memory. Fellow divers were also great company. On shore, everything felt so relaxed. All the staff led by Filo were really welcoming and friendly, the food was great, accommodation clean and spacious and the daily cultural activities genuine and entertaining. We'd love to go back one day with our boys.

Beqa Lagoon Resort, Fiji (pronounced Benga) 5th–12th July 2025 Almost two years ago, I began planning a trip to Fiji to dive with the sharks of Beqa Lagoon, a dream for many divers. On the morning of July 5th, our group met at 3:00 am at Sydney Airport for a 6:00 am flight to Nadi, Fiji. After landing, we were met by our bus for the journey to Pacific Harbour. Unfortunately, it was a small bus... for 21 people plus luggage, lucky they had a trailer. The 165 km drive took around 3.5 hours. From Pacific Harbour, we boarded two large aluminium catamarans for the final 45-minute crossing to Beqa Island. As the sun set, we arrived on the beach to the sound of the resort staff singing a traditional Fijian welcome. After a long journey, we had finally arrived, and it was immediately worth it. Day 1 – Checkout Dives The first dive day started with a check dive at the site used for the shark feeding. Visibility was decent at 20–25 meters, but milky, less than I’d expected for Fiji. Tawny nurse sharks approached as we arrived, and a few bull sharks joined us on the bottom, though they quickly left when they realized there was no food. Our second dive was at “Seven Sisters” — a reef featuring a small swim-through and a resident ribbon eel. A scenic dive, but still an introductory warm-up. Day 2 – Drift Diving Conditions ramped up on day two, with rough seas and strong currents on the western side of the lagoon. The first dive was a drift from John’s Tunnel to The Golden Arch — spectacular visibility (~40 meters), stunning soft corals, sea fans, and schools of small reef fish. The second dive was a small wreck just offshore from the resort. Visibility dropped to around 8 meters, and while the wreck was fun to explore, I found the surrounding reef more vibrant. Day 3 – Wrecks & Reef Our morning dive was on a sunken Chinese trawler. While most of us focused on the reef (with its schools of barracuda, fans, and small swim-throughs), Paul was drawn to the wreck’s rusting charm. The second dive, “Circus-Circus,” featured a massive coral bommie teeming with life. The highlight was a mantis shrimp, though the overall density of marine life made it a diver’s playground. Graham and I managed to squeeze in a few shore dives in the afternoons. Visibility was only about 5 meters, but there were plenty of critters around to photograph. Shark Dives – The Main Event Beqa Lagoon is world-famous for its shark dives, particularly its encounters with bull and tiger sharks. We had booked one day of double shark dives, but I was keen to do more. After speaking with the dive operation, I learned that extra spots on the shark boats could be filled if available. Thanks to this, some of us managed three days of shark diving. How It Works The dive site is a submerged pinnacle on the reef edge. Boats moor, and divers descend to a rock wall at 20 meters. Behind the wall, divers kneel while the wranglers prepare the feeding station: a large aluminium box containing tuna heads. The tun

From the minute we arrived at the resort, we were treated to an amazing experience. It was a long flight from St Louis through Chicago to LAX, then another 10.5 hours through the air to Fiji. We landed at Nadi and were greeted by the representative from the resort(and bus driver!). Granted we still had about three more hours of travel, but they tried to make it as comfortable as possible. The boat ride was about 35 minutes long and took us to Beqa Island. As we arrived at the island, the staff met us at the shore, singing a Fijian song of welcome. This was just amazing. They welcomed us with a fruit drink and made sure we got to our rooms. We were in Bure 1 which is pretty much centered in the resort, steps away from everything. We had our initial meeting with the dive operations team and Brandon made sure we all understood what was going to happen during our stay. They took our gear and placed it in gear bags and added them to the boat. I use 100cf tanks and they made sure that it was listed next to my name. Each day, before we even set foot on the dive boats, roll call was conducted and the divers received instructions for that day. The dive guides would brief us on the sites once we arrived. Our dive guide was Suli. He was amazing! Each dive, we got to see something we have never seen before. Made each dive so much more interesting. We never wanted the dives to stop!!! We also did a pair of shark dives that have ruined us for all other encounters with sharks. The Tiger sharks were HUGE!! We also did a night dive. In all of our dives, the guides made sure we were safe at all times. We never had to worry. We even found a wreck! My wife and I are usually reef divers but an occasional wreck never hurt. We know that a past customer hated the wreck and the diver operations manager was going to stop using that wreck as a dive site. We encouraged him to keep it. It’s a great wreck with tons of wildlife on it. The dive boats were well maintained and were actually dual-hulled power boats. They were very stable in the waters around the island. There were times when the seas had a little heavier swells than when we eft the resort. The boats helped decreased them. I have been in single-hulled boats in other areas and they were not as stable. They would rock int e swells more readily than the Beqa Resort boats. Everyday, the staff had something to do in the afternoon. You weren’t required to be involved, but we were encouraged. They would announce the days activities in the morning telling us what was going to happen during the day. Many of the activities were put on by the Activities Group. Jay was the most noticeable of the group, but was also very humble and polite. They had school tours, waterfall hikes and shopping tours on the main island, Fiji. Meals were amazing. Every morning, you had your breakfast cooked to order. They would have the menu for the lunch and dinner meals. All you had to do was mark what you wanted and how much. They woul
