Dorint Seehotel and Resort Bitburg Sudeifel

In July, we were here with 4 people for 2 nights. We had 2 comfort double rooms with a lake view and breakfast. We had already stayed in the hotel with 2 people in 2004 and in the apartment area for a week in 2009. Because we liked it so much back then, we wanted to spend a weekend there with friends. There were already considerable problems with the booking (both by phone and email). Either we couldn't reach anyone by phone or they didn't reply to emails. But finally we got our reservations. In the hotel, we were assigned our rooms on the second and third floors. The room on the second floor (5 p.m.) had not been cleaned. So we were given a room on the third floor which had been updated (a little bigger than the comfort double room). This room was in good condition overall. Our double room, however, had various defects: In the shower, the paint was peeling off the ceiling in some places; the freestanding cupboard containing the refrigerator was completely run down on the outside; the paneling on the built-in refrigerator was missing from the door; The armchair was completely covered in stains on the seat; the paint and plaster on the balcony were chipping off in some places. One of the two plastic chairs on the balcony was unusable because it was covered in shoe polish stains. We complained about this at reception, which resulted in a 15% discount on one of the rooms on the day of departure. The discount was nice, but there was no indication whatsoever that the defects would be remedied. When you consider that a night costs 155.00 euros and you are staying in a hotel where the furnishings (in these two rooms) are almost 20 years old, there is a real backlog of investment here. The price is disproportionate to the services offered. The rooms were only cleaned if you specifically requested this. The area in and around the "marketplace" was completely closed. The quality of the breakfast was somewhat worse than it was 20 years ago. There were also no adjustments to products for alternative dishes for people with milk protein allergies. Conclusion: The hotel is in a very nice location. The rooms definitely need to be renovated or updated. The staff did not make a good impression. The breakfast buffet is not sufficient for a hotel of this standard. At this point in time, I cannot imagine that I will stay there again. The big name and what is offered according to the website are not proportionate to the completely overpriced price. A real shame!
