This is our second stay at Hotel Settles. It has become a regular stopping point for our annual trip from Dallas to Ruidoso. The renovations that have been done to restore this historic landmark are spectacular. Everything is modern while retaining the 100 year old charm of the hotel. This hotel should be considered three-star. The current rating of two stars is probably due to the relatively outdated equipment. Fairly clean, much better than the surrounding two-star hotels.

It was clean and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. I think breakfast is an amenity, but I don’t know that they are doing that right now with the pandemic. I didn’t see anything around 0700, but I was in the main area for other reasons. I do think hotels should stop making you pay more for this amenity if they can’t offer it regardless of the reason, but I have seen many hotels doing this. I cannot say enough about how nice the staff is though and how will they are to help you.
