Reception was very quick and efficient and the elevator is right next to it. The restaurant is across the hall from the reception. The room was a bit small but clean. The only odd thing throughout the hotel and even going into the restaurant is that there are small little dips going from the main floor into the restaurant, maybe only a half inch. It was the same going into our room. Slight step into the room then a short hallway with a slight dip again. Breakfast was good and the staff was super helpful. Appreciated the free transit pass.

Good location if you are traveling on public transport. We came from Colmar by train and the hotel is only a short taxi ride from the station. It is not an area for cafes, restaurants etc. as there is nothing around. There is a tram just up from the hotel and you can take this into the heart if the city. We didn’t as it was only an overnight stay and we were too tired. We contented ourselves with a snack from a machine in the lobby. The room was small but for one or two nights not a problem. Bed was comfortable, water hot and WiFi good. We left too early for breakfast so can’t comment on the food. The young lady on reception was very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for short stays. Great value for the price we paid, AU$97.

I booked a night in a single room with Lavabo - the price is currently at 95,- CHF + 4,- courtage. I am not in a hotel because I wanted to save money and Switzerland is much more expensive than Germany. Benefits of youth hostels: The booking includes a Basel card that allows you to use all the public service free of charge. Furthermore, you pay only 50% of the entry at museums etc. Another advantage: the location of the youth heritage very central, but still quiet (only with regard to the city event), in the old town very close to the Rhine. You can walk to the center. The neighborhood is idyllic. I had a room with windows on the opposite side of the Rhine, there cooled it in spite of a hot summer day in the night nicely from another advantage: breakfast is quite good, it is already ready from 6:00, and the coffee/cappucino from the machine is of high quality. However, one must pay for a cappucino outside the breakfast hours CHF 4.00. A room without shower/WC with Lavabo is easy because there are enough toilets and single showers available on the floor. And a good shower bathtub was to be borrowed for 3,- CHF. The staff of the youth hostels were very friendly. Most other guests do not, often my greeting was not answered on the hall. Now to the disadvantages that weigh more seriously for my needs than the benefits: first of all the relative brightness. Relatively because the construction substance appears normal in this respect, but the behaviour of other guests is ignorant. At the time of my stay, many families with small children were present, some of which let their children cry unremittingly (without pain or dispute) - the children cry partly for fun at crying, in the rooms, but also, Because it is so beautiful in the concrete halls, and well because the parents thought that all could be left in a youth hostel. I didn't say anything to these families because I know from experience that it doesn't bring anything and because I just stayed a night. But I have spoken to the staff, but nothing has been done (that is probably also useless for them). I myself visited Basel to look at a lot of art, and I am a guy who needs a guest room as a place of withdrawal even daily to get back. The impressions in this interesting city are overwhelming. This youth hostel is not suitable for this. I could only sleep with earstops, and that's only uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the room can only be obtained from 15:00 - I would have wished to be able to rest a little before and make me fresh after the long arrival of a hot day (but probably it would have been too loud to rest). We had an amazing stay at this lovely homestay! The place was clean, cozy, and felt just like home. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay special, even gifting us a Christmas-themed pen as a thoughtful surprise. It’s the small gestures like this that truly make a difference! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a warm and welcoming experience. We’ll definitely be back!

The Hotel is no frills and if you arrive after 4PM you have to checkin via an electronic kiosk by the door. You fill up a bunch of screens and in the end it gives you a keycard to enter the hotel. You also have to use it in the elevator as the hotel is only on the 4th floor and all other floors have locks. The room was fairly large and well equipped. I particularly loved the alligator shaped soaps for the kids and the fully stocked minibar which was entirely free. There were also chocolates and cookies on the pillows. Nice wi-if too. Breakfast is served in a tiny room downstairs and even though there was a tiny amount of each of the things to eat, it was replaced often. The only person working in the hotel in the morning is the receptionist and the one tending breakfast. She was nice and responsive to our needs. A very good option for those needing to take the train from Basel Bad in the morning. A bit far from the city’s interesting bits though.

This hotel is within walking distance from the SBB train station, staff at the hotel are very friendly and speak very good English. I was very grateful for the early check in without any quibble with the receptionist, and she explained how we can get around. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold foods, with variations every day. I would definitely stay here again. The only discomfort with our room was the temperature in our room was set to 19C, which was comfortable during the day, but was a bit too hot for the night for us, and we couldn’t lower the temperature down.

This is my second time staying here. The staff are very helpful and polite. The rooms are spacious and clean and comfortable. The breakfast lacks nothing and I love the energy juice drink! The garden is relaxed and the free coffee and drinks are most welcome. I cannot imagine a better hotel in Basel.
