Biscay Hotels with Bars

The Bilbao Holiday Inn Express had helpful, friendly staff and great checkin. The room and bed and pillows were better than I expected. But in the morning I found bites on my faces and hands. They may have been from a spider, but for sure they came from a pest. I was there to deliver a presentation at a conference. I itched, and the swelling was obvious. I hope the management sprayed that hotel. I complained to a nice staffer at the desk. I said, their ad promised to make things right if the hotel was not clean. No, there was no compensation. I might try this hotel again. But I am bringing DEET to spray it first. Bilbao is a lovely city.

The hotel itself is very nicely presented. A large foyer welcomes the visitor with a large booking in desk and friendly staff who spoke very good English. The room was clean and fresh with clean linen and towels. There were 2 complimentary bottles of water in the mini bar and there is a digital safe for keeping important documents safe. I didn’t use or read the instructions for setting the digital touchpad. The dining room was closed for dinner on the Monday we visited so I cannot review the dinner meal or the menu. However, the breakfast next morning was not what I consider, up to par. The supposed hot food segment, was in actual fact, stone cold, except for the fried eggs, in a nod to a traditional English breakfast. Which was a shame. The rest of the breakfast food was traditional Continental Breakfast with croissants, jams and marmalade, including cold meats, cheeses and fruit. My only criticism would be finding access to the underground car park, situated at the rear of the hotel. It’s not easily found and required my having to ask the desk staff where the car park was. It would probably help guests who are driving to the hotel, to be provided with a map on confirmation of booking e mail. Otherwise, I would stay at this hotel again,should I visit Bilbao in the future. Reasonably priced for the accommodation, but disappointed with the cold (when it should have been hot) breakfast.

I thought the sauna was included in our stay that’s why I booked the hotel. When I’ve mentioned it to the staff about not having an additional cost to it when you book online, they told me is part of the spa . This is very confusing as if it was part of the spa why mentioning it and not including it in the spa section . Spa and sauna are not the same and if it’s a cost to it , that should be mentioned. Anything else was amazing . Also they don’t have a separate cost to the sauna only ! I just wanted to use the gym and the sauna , no spa though! There was no possibility to book the sauna without the spa. It’s like 20 euros per acces not per day which I thought it’s a rip off especially when you are already booked with the hotel and you’ve paid for your room! Again staff showed no flexibility , it was either pay for something you won’t use or you don’t get it! Ended up not booking it because I did not want to use the spa , and I thought it was a lot of money (20 euros) to pay for 15 min use of sauna only.

Close to the airport. The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport, which is very convenient. The rooms are relatively new, the decoration is simple and the configuration is relatively simple. The whole is still relatively clean. Breakfast is simple and there are not many choices.

Cost-effective choice, located in the middle of the old city and the new city, easy to travel, 20 minutes by taxi from the airport to the hotel, the hotel has just been renovated, and the breakfast is rich.

Fantastic experience, the hostel is super clean and the vibe is on point, the whole team are welcoming and super friendly, I felt like at home. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. Their hostel events are one of their highlights for sure. And pro-tip, do not miss out on their delicious buffet breakfast. Hemos estado este fin de semana alojados en un apartamento con 2 niñas y un bebé y nos hemos encontrado muy cómodos. Apartamento amplio, con cocina equipada para poder hacer comidas sencillas, mesa de comedor donde entraban hasta 6 personas, baño grande; en el salón había literas y sofá cama, pero está genial que el sofá no lo abran como cama porque así se puede usar para ver la tele (por cierto bastante grande). Además nos pusieron supletoria por si las niñas tenían miedo a dormir en la cama de arriba, una cuna que tenía hasta la mantita, toallas para todos, incluido el bebé (que en muchos sitios no lo ponen). Recepción y resto de personal del hotel, todo amabilidad. Además cuenta con acceso al bar restaurante, con una oferta variada para desayunar, estaba bien y a un precio correcto. El restaurante no lo probamos. Está a 10 minutos de la playa, aparcamos gratis en un sitio cercano que ellos nos indicaros, el metro a 5 minutos andando y las vistas son muy bonitas. Ya habíamos estado hace años, pero seguro que volvemos en otra ocasión .

The room is very small, except for towels, all other personal items are not provided, even the water cup is not provided, this is the first time I have encountered this, too strange. Breakfast is quite satisfactory, no vegetable salad, others are good. Good location, very convenient to go out and eat and drink. The pillow was particularly uncomfortable and felt that the pillowcase was full of gas. The general evaluation is average, will not stay next time.

The hotel was well known and its strengths remained the location, comfort of beds, quality of towels and the bathroom in case it was in the room. I haven't enjoyed the meal in any of your options so I can't comment on it. As regards deficiencies, the structure of the rooms makes the conversations of neighbouring rooms heard and clearly perceived (a good tape solves it) The spa is obsolete and it would be good to update it. The hotel is very comfortable and would repeat it, but as I suggested earlier, a 4-star hotel is defined by detail attention.
