Hotel Sumski Feneri

My wife and I live in Canada but my wife was born was born in Bitola Macedonia where she has a family home and we visit Bitola every year for a month each year for the past 16 years. Bitola is the second largest city in Macedonia and it's infastructure is in need of serious help. Thankfully the restaurant business in Bitola is alive and well and we have eaten at all of them multiple times from the top of Pellaster Mountain to the Macedonia, Greek boarder. Both my wife and I are well traveled in Europe, the Pacfic and the Caribbean and we truly appreciate a great dinner served to us by professionally trained career waiters. To often, in our travels we run into waiters with bad attitude and lacking professional knowledge of their own menu. The choices of restaurants in Bitola are plentiful, but each and every year we find ourselves repeatedly at the Sumski Feneri Hotel Restaurant. This restaurant is set in the side of a large mountain, The decor is tastefully done and spotless. The hotel rooms are always booked solid and reservations need to be made in advance. The food is always well prepared and presented to you in a proper professional manner. What sets this restaurant above the rest is a waiter we always ask for before we are seated. That waiters name is MARIJAN, a 28 year veteran in the art of serving food. Marijan is a soft spoken pleasant cordial individual that always has a smile on his face and never tries to rush you through your meal. Our lunch or dinner at this restaurant is usually a minimum of 3 hours. Whenever you ask Marijan about a certain food, drink or dessert, he will always tell you what he thinks. My favorite is the cheescake which is uniquely different and to die for! This year we have been to Macedonia 4 times over the past 2 months, between England, Malta, Montenegro and Croatia and if Marijan is not working we try a different restaurant, but we do come back when he is on duty. Excellent service makes for an excellent meal and Sumski Feneri should be thankful they have a waiter like Marijan that takes such pride in what he does and customers keep coming back to Sumski Feneri because of that attitude. Delicious lunch at Sumski Feneri Restaurant. We were seated outside with family and it was absolutely gorgeous. Staff were attentive and meals were delicious and affordable. A must visit when staying in Bitola, Macedonia.
