During the nine-night stay, the garbage was picked up every day, the bed and quilt were only made for a few days, the bath towels were not changed every day, even after being told, and the room was not vacuumed or cleaned...!

What a brilliant hotel. Warm, clean, friendly, comfortable and the staff were both polite and helpful. The organisation at breakfast time was remarkable. The bar was run efficiently and was excellent value. Excellent value for money. We’ll definitely return next year! My only criticism…were the owners terrible jokes…!!. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay.

This is my 5th year of using the Ferndale for my bus load from Aberdeen. Paul, Sue and all the staff are very friendly, the hotel is spotless and the meals & entertainment is top class. Nothing is too much bother for any of the team even when it comes to First Aid.

Just returned from a weekend at The Ferndale Hotel. The room was very cosy, warm and clean. Comfy bed and fluffy towels even had a welcome chocolate. The breakfast choice was fab and very nice. The owners, Paul and Sue were brilliant along with their staff, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a lovely weekend definitely will be back and recommending.

Another fantastic stay! We are never disappointed. Rooms perfect for a family of four, cosy and welcoming. We love the extra touches in the rooms from a chocolate placed carefully on the fresh towels, a welcome book and not forgetting a huge supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk and biscuits. Complimentary toiletries in the en suites, plenty of loo rolls and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are so very friendly and helpful. Paul, Sue, Gemma, Liza, Gracie and the others are constantly on hand to pour delicious Beers and a wide variety of drinks from the bar, Serve a belly busting full English breakfast with the added extras of cereals, toast, yoghurt, hot drinks, fruit juices and the best selection of jams and spreads plus so many snack and food options if you do ever feel hungry in the day. The best thing about a Winter visit is the festive decorations, a singing santa to greet you upon entry, so many fairy lights and wonderful decorations everywhere. Always puts us in the festive spirit. Ooh and when the entertainment is on, the acts are fantastic! No need to venture anywhere else. From stairlifts to an endless supply of mints in the reception, vending machines for snacks and even a pool table and fruit machine. It really does have everything. We will be back next year and already looking forward to it. Thankyou to all who may our stay perfect!

Fantastic hotel owners can't do enough for their guests and the staff are really friendly great facilities and close to the centre of town. Our 8 year old thinks "it's the best hotel ever" and the staff catered to his every need even fixing his toy that got broken. I highly recommend this hotel

On Monday 21st October, We checked into the Ferndale for 4 nights throught breaks2go. Our trip included return coach, 4 nights DBB & a travel pass to use in Blackpool. We arrived at the hotel at approx 1355pm & We had been allocated Room 1. The owner Paul, showed us to our room. The room itself was a small double with en suite. On entering the room, Paul apologised for the scuffed paintwork on a boxed in area next to the bed, explaining it was a boiler & had recently had work done on it. The room had a wardrobe, 2 bedside cabinets & a small TV plus tea/coffee facilities. At around 6am on Tuesday Morning, We were woken up by very loud noises coming from the "boiler" sounding like water building up then an engine starting. We hoped it was just a one off but it happened again on Wednesday morning. We'd popped to reception on Wednesday afternoon to request a change to one of our breakfasts for the following day, the young lady on reception asked if everything had been OK so I mentioned the "boiler" She said I should have told them Tuesday as they had plenty of spare rooms & could move us, I said that would be appreciated if they could. She said to pop & speak to Paul who was next door doing DIY. I approached Paul, explained what the issue was & that I'd spoken to reception, his reply was "in 30yrs, we've never had any complaints about your room", I was taken aback by this, I felt it implied I was lieing. He came upstairs & opened the cupboard door to reveal a water tank & said it "doesn't make noises". Paul them decided to run up & down the stairs, turning on various showers & flushing toilets but the noise didn't start, next thing the water was flooding in through our bedroom ceiling. Luckily none of our belongings were caught by the water. At this point, he decided we'd need to be moved. What a stressful hour that was, if he'd just moved us in the beginning then investigated, mind boggles!! Our next room was bigger but the bathroom was far too small, my husband couldn't use the shower as the step up made the space about ceiling too tight for him(he's 6ft 2). Breakfast was 830am each morning, which consisted of cereals, cooked breakfast, fruit juice & toast plus yogurts, however there was never any yogurts put out. As part of our package, we got a 3 course evening meal each night & Liza was absolutely fabulous, her cooking was delicious & she fully accommodates my husbands dietary requirements, many thanks liza. Liza didn't work Thursday night & this showed in the meals, the food just wasn't as good & no hot drinks were offered or served to anyone in the dining room(We shouldn't have to ask). On returning to the hotel last night, we just couldn't get the key to work in the main front door, I spotted a staff member sitting in the lounge area so tapped on the window. On opening the door, we explained we couldn't get key to work, he tried it & snapped "it works", charming!. Location wise, this hotel is 2 minute walk to coral island howe
