I was visiting the area for a family occasion. The inn was busy when I arrived to check in on Saturday afternoon with many people eating. I noticed that it had Cask Marque so had hand pump ales as well as a cocktail menu and all the usual offerings of a good pub. I was nicely surprised to see how modern and clean the upstairs area was where the rooms are. It's obviously all been recently renovated as the bathroom was very modern, albeit compact. There were tea and coffee facilities (and biscuits) and toiletries were provided. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast selection was good.

I was looking forward to visiting The Angel at Blythe because we had had many lovely meals with my family in the past. I ordered meat and potato pie. Think they need to look up the definition of a pie! which is a pastry case filled with meat or fruit. My pie was in a small dish with a few pieces of beef in the bottom, three small pieces of hard potato and two slices of carrot with, what appeared to be a layer of frozen puff pastry on top. The whole pie was very dry. To accompany the meal there was a large dollop of dark green mushy peas and chips that seemed warmed up. At £15.50, it was definitely overpriced. I was extremely disappointed and although we like the pub, we will not be going back again.

Have frequented the Angel a few times over the years - food is always good and portions are often generous. It’s a lovely pub with a big car park (watch the entrance !) and a great garden in the summer. There are a few different sections within the pub - some have bigger tables and can get quite noisy with families all enjoying themselves. I’m sure you can reserve a table in a quieter section if there are only a couple of you. We have sizzling chicken, fish cakes, sizzling salmon and liver and onions. Feedback on the liver was that it is excellent- pan fried.

We we greeted warmly by the staff and our room was ready early as requested (we we’re attending a wedding) The room was tiny, en-suite a step up from bedroom and more like a cupboard. No sockets near a mirror so unable to do my hair or makeup properly. Cleaning leaves a lot to be desired as the tv had an inch thick of dust behind. The corridor was being decorated with new carpet and all rooms had new doors which were very nice. Hope the rest is being done too! Breakfast was a bit of a joke, we asked for milk for the cereal and it was brought in a measuring jug!! Cold food. All in all ok for the one night but don’t think we will be returning

Called in for lunch mid week. Can't say we had a warm welcome just polite. Service was very business like and not particularly personable. However the food was nice if not a tad expensive. £10 for a jacket potato with tuna mayo for example. We ate in the beer garden which is a good size and a nice place to sit. Unlike a lot of beer gardens it was obvious a lot of effort had gone into making it nice, much appreciated too. Drinks were a tad expensive too, £5.50 for a pint of lager. Overall a good experience and we would would recommend a visit. We will be back!

We visited The Angel Inn, Blyth,Notts on Wednesday evening 3/8/22 after a trip to Leeds. The service by KATIE was faultless, a very professional yet friendly and cheerful young lady, nothing was too much trouble an asset to this establishment. The food was really fresh and hot, and was perfect in every way. We’ll certainly re visit
