Ivory Tree Game Lodge

Location: The lodge is beautifully situated next to Pilanesberg National Park, offering a quiet escape into nature. Guests appreciate its proximity to wildlife and the serene environment away from city noise.

The lodge itself was lovely, much bigger than we normally go to, a really nice pool but very busy. We have been to the sister hotel in the south of the park, which was half the size, so my fault I didn’t check the number of rooms. The rooms were lovely, our daughter and family had the most amazing two bedroom lodge with a great outside and a very warm pool, which we used to all be together, the only thing is neither of rooms had any view which is a shame. The food and staff were lovely and really accommodating. Alarm bells started to ring as we pulled up to the lodge and there were coaches outside and tour groups, we went for lunch and all the tables were long so you had to sit with other people, we asked not to and they sorted it out for us immediately, the food there was excellent with plenty of choice, although a bit of shambles before drives to get a coffee. The biggest thing for us is we always stay in a five star lodge, and everyone has a window seat, so maximum of six unless there is a group of three, this lodge crammed 9 to 10 people in a van and whoever got the front seat didn’t have a great view as you are low down, and we don’t want to be squished in with strangers, you can’t see and get pictures, we did complain and they did try to sort it out, but it really spoilt the experience for us, although we had great sighting of leopard, elephants and lions. The other thing our morning coffees and sundowners where always taken in a car park with lots of other trucks, a glass of wine is not the same as being on your own watching the sun go down. This place is to big and to many big groups, and not a window seat, we definitely would not stay here again.

We couldn’t recommend Ivory Tree Game Lodge more!! We stayed for 4 days and had the most amazing time. Our tour guide, Phenyo, was absolutely fantiastic and really made our experience that much better! The food, lodges and pool were all amazing.
