Tavares Inn

My husband, adult daughter and myself stayed 1 night at Tavares Inn. Deb and Bob (and a few of their friendly pets) greeted us after we had spent the afternoon in White Sands NP. We got a tour of the Inn and then checked into our rooms. Deb gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner - the local winery/restaurant. The dinner was delicious!!! After returning from dinner and parking the car we headed out to the road to take in the many stars/planets/constellations and even saw the Atlas comet. Breakfast the next morning was more than we could have imagined. Eggs, sausage or bacon/ potatoes/toast and even cherry coffee cake. Deb gave us many suggestions for things to do in the area. So much more than we had time for but we did make it to Pistachioland a local pistachio farm. We wish we had more time in the Alamogordo area to see some of the other sites they recommended. I guess we'll just have to come back! Thank you! PS: we still talk about "Pickles" the parrot. A definite highlight of our stay : )

Such a delight staying here. Debbie took great care of us, and made us a big breakfast, and even sent us off with pie. Great location, very close to White Sands National Park, and a quiet, relaxing space at a large home that has been a B&B for years now. We want to return to NM and would definitely stay here again. Easy, relaxing, and a pleasure all around.

All of the five star reviews understate the experience. Deb and Bob are superb hosts and you will not find a better accommodation or a better value anywhere. While you are out in rich farmland you are minutes from fine dining opportunities, white sands national monumnet, and the New Mexico Space Museum. Both are worth the trip

During our recent trip to Alamogordo, my husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Tavares Inn for two nights, a charming retreat nestled conveniently close to the otherworldly White Sands National Park. As avid travelers from Birmingham, Alabama, our journeys are fueled by a desire to see stunning landscapes and to immerse ourselves in the spirit of our destinations. Tavares Inn emerged as a example of heartfelt hospitality. The proprietors, Robert and Debbie, infused our visit with personal touches that transformed a simple stay into a memorable celebration. For my husband’s birthday, they not only accepted a shipped gift in advance but also ensured it was unwrapped and waiting in our room, a surprise that was the cherry on top of our celebration. Their generosity extended to breakfast; we were treated to a hearty breakfast of thick-cut bacon, fresh farm eggs, and green chili potatoes that still linger in my taste memory. They even coordinated a special German chocolate cake for my husband. The inn itself is a warm, expansive family home that speaks to the region’s character. A saddle decorates the front entrance, a nod to their equestrian pursuits (they used to run an equestrian program out here) while the five-acre property has several goats, contributing to the inn's rustic charm. There’s an indoor heated swimming pool that was great after adventuring in the sands. The inn provides sand boards and board wax which is a huge savings over having to buy them at the park. Side note, LesCombes Winery and Bistro is a short drive away and really worth it for a dinner stop. This place stood out and I’d recommend it to friends and family wanting to experience nature in the area in a heartbeat.

Tavares Inn is a hidden gem in Alamogordo. It is the spacious home of Debbie and her husband who run this bed and breakfast. Each of the guest rooms have their own private bath. It is located outside the main town, down a quite country road. It is conveniently located close to local restaurants and is only about 15 minutes from White Sands NP. There is an indoor pool, and many extras available for the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. Debbie also served a delicious breakfast. I could go on, but the bottom line is this Inn is a perfect stay that I highly recommend.

Looking for a place to stay on the way to White Sands National Park? Look no further! Debbie and Bob are the hosts at Tavares Inn, and will make you feel right at home along with their rescue dogs and cats, parrot and goats. Debbie made a huge breakfast, and brought juice, coffee and fruit (topped with whipped cream) to our room before we came down to eat in the breakfast area. There is a pool table in the breakfast area with a view of the swimming pool. The hosts are great conversationalists, and will even loan you a sled before you head out to White Sands National Park. Every room has a private bathroom and TV. The view of the mountains is spectacular. Debbie recommended a great restaurant/winery nearby, and we enjoyed it very much. Hosts are hardworking people who are always taking care of their animals, grounds and of course, their guests. 100% recommend this B&B. You will not find a better place if you're in the area.
