Vacancéole - Appart'Vacances Pyrénées 2000

There's a leaking of water from the roof and our room on the top flor had a water paddle on the entrance next to the kitchen area.

The Appart Vacances is a modern, well-designed, apartment block in a convenient location offering good value in the Pyrenees 2000 part of Font Romeu. The building is attractive and modern, built with natural stone cladding. Each room has a balcony, well-equipped kitchenette, bathroom WC. Our room was a suite with a sofabed, separate double bedroom and bunkbed alcove. In the basement is a ski-hire centre and allocated private ski lockers with direct access to the street. It is very much self service - make your own beds (cotton bedding supplied) and clean at the end. Some basic supplies might have been useful. Arrival day was chaotic (busiest day of the year, I expect, but completely predictable so not sure why they needed to close reception for the afternoon!) but after that the staff team coped well and were helpful and friendly. The Apartment is 5-10 minutes' walk from the Pyrenees 2000 lift area - a bit of a struggle with kids. Font Romeu is a small resort. It claims to be the sunniest ski resort in France and we weren't disappointed. Limited snowfall is managed by laying down artificial snow over a period of months so that the pistes are always reliably skiable. There are nursery slopes at the base level, some easy greens, graduating upward gently through blues, reds and blacks. Something for everyone although by the end of 6 days we had done it all! Queues for lifts were generally very short and skiers were polite and considerate. Font Romeu town is beautiful old skiing village with a single cable car to the pistes. Pyrenees 2000 is better served by lifts but very limited in terms of a village centre and restaurants.
