Zagaia Eco Resort

I had such a great time at Zagaia, and I really want to say how amazing the kids’ staff were. They were all super friendly, funny, and made me feel really welcome. It felt like they actually cared about us and not just doing their job. Some of my favorites staff/characters were “Pew Pew”, “Pudim”, “Popcorn”, “Chocolate”, and “Picapau”. They were all so kind and always had fun games and activities planned. Even when it was super hot or everyone was tired, they still kept smiling and made sure we were having a good time. They were also really good at helping everyone feel included, even if someone was shy or didn’t speak much Portuguese. I honestly think they’re one of the best parts of the resort, and they made my trip way better. Thank you so much to all of them – you’re awesome!

Zagaia On the positive side - Great infrastructure and recreational staff for kids Beautiful grounds Travel agency that books your activities in Bonito for you. Good breakfast. Very nice and attentive staff at the restaurant. Comfortable large beds. Curtains that block the light completely. On the negative side - Be prepared to arrive for a late afternoon check in, with extra slow, untrained front desk service, and no help with your suitcases and finding your room in the dark (no resort maps available). The rooms face each other and don’t have a set of sheer curtains. When you’re in the room you have to close the blackout curtains and no light comes in. No closet in the room. Instead, there’s a bar with three hangers and a shelf in the bathroom. No drawers. The bathroom has no windows. Anything you wash and hang in the bathroom will never dry. Bathrooms have three extremely loud exhaust fans each. Housekeeping routinely cleans empty rooms and leaves the exhaust fans on (together with the lights). Be prepared to hear exhaust motors all night. We realized what the noise was after two difficult nights, and had them turned off in the neighboring room. Terrible room maintenance: Upon arrival, we noticed that the phone in the room wasn’t working and we had that changed. The showers have a rubber ***** on the floor to keep the water from flooding the bathroom. Half of our rubber ***** was missing. Maintenance said it would be replaced the next day, but this never happened because they had to order the piece. The front desk asked us to change rooms, which would have been work for us, but housekeeping found a bandaid solution by wrapping a towel in a plastic bag and using that to dam the water in the shower stall. One leaky sink, and the other stopped up - never fixed despite two calls to the front desk which leads me to: Terrible front desk service (and not just checking in). We once forgot a bikini that was left out to dry on a bench near the front door. We noticed on the road and called the front desk to have someone put it in the room for us, and it was still on the bench when we returned in the afternoon. Be prepared to come back to your room at 5:05pm after a long day of activities, to find that housekeeping didn’t clean your room. Then call the front desk and nothing happens. The solution was to speak to the manager of the front desk, who personally brought the one and only housekeeper on duty that tends to emergencies after 5pm. Had to help her to do the bed in order to speed things up. Such a shame because I was here twenty years ago and it used to be an excellent hotel. Will not return, as there is now a better option available.

I confess my expectation were low, given the recent reviews we had about the hotel. My family and I stayed for 7 nights, in 3 rooms: 1 Premium luxo, 1 suite and 1 suite master. All rooms were clean and spacious. They all have a king size bed, with a very confortable mattress. Couldn't ask for anything more. The hotel has several swimming pools and my kids had a blast. They enjoyed the recreation team, specially Tio Xu

The wonderful team at Zagaia were amazing! ! The resort has all the facilities we needed and it was the kids favourite part of our Brazilian holiday! The kids club recreacio was AMAZING!!!!!!! Tio Xuxa, Tio Mancha, Tio Leo, Tia Flor, Tio Lino, Tia Geleia Tia Japa and Tia Coquinho made sure our kids (Mirella 8 and Dante 5) had the absolute best time. We are from Australia and didn’t speak much Portuguese, but the teachers and their friends and other kids helped as translators. We had so much fun and learnt so much! Our kids will be talking about their favourite teachers from Brazil for their entire lives! The staff were the highlight of the resort! Will will remember staying here forever! THANK YOU!!!!!
