The Wishing Well Inn is the definition of “no thrills”. It’s easy to find and the location is good for the area but it’s definitely not a place I’d stay for a long period of time. The staff are fairly friendly and service is quick. The breakfast however, is just a basket of breakfast bars and a ready made porridge. The shower was a relic from another age, difficult to use and always either too hot or too cold. Nice bed and pillows and a good pub garden but wouldn’t recommend for longer than a stop over stay.

We went for a family meal to celebrate a birthday, the food was delicious with lots of choice, everything sounded good. The service was excellent. Good selection of ales and my husband enjoyed a pint of local Stamford ale. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend. Thank you

Stayed for 2 nights to meet family. Room was extremely expensive. Very basic with limited storage, a broken coat hanger. A rip in the duvet cover. Access via external fire exit stairs as internal dark and unsafe. Room was not serviced during our stay. Over priced and no breakfast included. Very thin walls and tired decor eg frayed carpet on landing. Old furniture dumped in several areas of garden and in upstairs room visible to guests. Accommodation definitely not justifying daily rate. Had evening meals on 2 occasions and no complaint. The restaurant staff attentive and food and drinks good. Shame about the bedrooms.

Pros: Bed, Toilet etc clean Free Car Parking Tea / Coffee in room. Remote staff responded to enquiries quickly. Shower Gel etc provided Generally peaceful Surroundings. Cons: Extremely bad state of cosmetic repair - paint peeling, door warped, window locks not great. Looks and feels very dated. Very cramped bathroom. Very thin walls / noise isolation - you can hear people talking / urinating next door etc. Also huge creaking from footsteps on floor above. Pub shut on Mondays / Tuesdays so no food. No breakfast available on any days. Air freshener in room possibly masking a bad smell Expensive for what it is.

Very good value for money with regard to the prices paid. Stayed with a friend for Burghley Horse Trials so had a twin room. The beds were comfy, the room was clean, there was tea and coffee. The shower was not brilliant but better if you just used it as hand held so was adequate. Breakfasts did not start until 9.30 pm which was a bit unusual so we just eat at the event. Friendly staff and although a pub it really did shut down after 11.00pm so we were not bothered by noise. For the money we paid if you just want some clean accommodation would recommend.

This is is usually one of our favourite haunts. The food is reliably good and the atmosphere great. However visiting when the boss’ were away was a different story. The first clue that all would not be well was a long wait for our prebooked table. Service was slow and chaotic. Cutlery was all over the bar. We waited long times for drinks and some young waitress ‘ service was surly and slow. They seemed more keen to be propping the bar themselves , gossiping and drinking coffee. Food service was so slow. We kept being told that they ‘were literally playing up..’ after twenty minutes still no food. Lots of lost opportunities to sell drinks. The food when it arrived was good but waiting 1.5 hours before the starter was unacceptable. Waiting staff need training on manners and getting on with the job rather than gossiping. The owners are good and they need to know what is happening when staff aren’t supervised. Disappointing!

I often travel solo, so I rely on my mattress for company. And let me tell you, this hotel’s mattress was a wonderful dance partner (I named him Giorgos after an old flame from Mykonos) for the evening. Soft enough to let me sink in. But also firm enough to hold my voluptuous sides from spewing over. But anyway, back to the mattress… it was a decent.

We met friends here and had a great evening. Lovely environment, great food and very attentive friendly staff. Would definitely recommend, we'll be back very soon as need to try some more dishes on the menu.

We booked in, only to be told we don’t do cooked breakfast we give you a box they banged on the bedroom door at 2330 and left it in the hallway. The fridge was too small to fit them in mind you it was bigger than the tv. The meal was average but didn’t have coke or Pepsi in a can or bottle only flat pump stuff, they tried three times to get a Bacardi and coke with any sort of fizz so I gave up. We won’t be back we got up and went out for breakfast instead of relaxing in the hotel.
