The Hotel service staff is generally good. However, the whole hotel and building has a mold issue. The rooms and corridor floors have a musky smell which smelt of mold spores. My wife had an allergic reaction to the mold spores and her throat hurt. My yhroat also turned scratchy after walking into the first 2 rooms.

We had to request for 3 room changes before we were able to accept a room with fewer mold smell. Fortunately the service staff was understanding and apologetic about it. We also noticed the hotel giving out tea light essential oil burners in most rooms. Eventually we had to buy an air purifier from the nearby Harvey Norman to tackle the air quality issue, so my wife's condition was somewhat improved but still residual effects lingered.

When we reached home to unpack our luggage, my wife had a slight reaction again, so we had to clean out our luggage and its contents with anti-mold wipes/spray.

We even considered changing hotels on the second day.

The room view, daily complimentary breakfast was of good quality, however the stay was definitely ruined by the mold issue.

Unforgettable Service at Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur

I’ve stayed at several 5-star hotels before, but the service at Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur really stands out.

Right from the start, Farhana at reception made me feel genuinely welcomed. She was warm, professional, and so friendly—it felt like I was being greeted by someone who truly cared. Although I had a small issue with my room (which was resolved by someone else), Farhana’s kindness and the way she carried herself made the issue feel minor. Her presence and the great first impression she gave really set the tone for my entire stay.

At the restaurant, Raynalin and Halim were equally amazing. They were attentive without being intrusive, always checking in at just the right time and offering thoughtful recommendations. I felt so well taken care of—like they really wanted me to enjoy my meal and have a peaceful experience. I also noticed how consistent and gracious they were with every guest, which says a lot about the service culture at this hotel.

The people here are what make Banyan Tree KL truly special. Farhana, Raynalin, and Halim—thank you for making my stay so memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I stayed one night with my elderly parents and child on a weekend road trip. Overall, the hotel service felt impacted by reduced staffing.

Pros:
1.  Before our trip, I communicated our check-in time, and when we arrived at 11 AM, two rooms were ready for early check-in. The third room was also cleaned by 1 PM, which was very efficient!
2.  I tried the spa. The room was spacious, and the massage technique was great. The tea and red bean soup provided were a nice touch. Even though I was the last guest, they still walked me to the elevator. Service details were not compromised!
3.  It was very dark when I returned to my room at night, and I was worried about stray cats, so a young lady from the front desk accompanied me back to my room. I'm especially grateful for that!

Cons: The breakfast was a complete letdown. The food variety was limited, and the service was totally inadequate. After sitting down for five minutes, no staff came to take our order for food or coffee. After finally ordering, all our dishes were delivered to the table next to us... Full occupancy is no excuse; this is a basic mistake!

The duty manager handled the issues promptly and offered various compensation options. Upon check-out, they gave us a lion plushie and mooncakes as an apology.

We came to Banyan Tree Yangcheng Lake during off-peak hours. The hotel environment is excellent, the lakeside scenery is intoxicating, the restaurant is elegant and the atmosphere is pleasant. However, the quality of Mingyue breakfast needs to be improved. The selection and taste of dishes are not up to the standards of high-end hotels, which is a bit regrettable. The service is particularly outstanding. Special thanks to an enthusiastic and professional guest, Ambassador Yang, who took the initiative to assist in arranging the itinerary, from checking in and taking the boat to arranging dinner, as well as the introduction of the surrounding environment. The meticulous and thoughtful service made us feel warm and added a lot to the overall experience. I hope that the breakfast can be optimized at the same time. With such an ambassador serving attentively, we believe that it will be more perfect next time. It also makes us feel that the Banyan Tree Yangcheng Lake Hotel will be our first choice when we come to Suzhou next time~

This hotel healed my soul, heart and mind.

Yes it's kinda expensive, yes it's outside of the city... But I rarely felt this good just BEING in a place.

The scenery around is out of this world and will leave you in awe (and I talk from the perspective of a European that traveled a lot both in an outside of cities).

The structure is interesting and daring and welcoming and I was literally in love from the moment I stepped in the waiting hall to the very last step I left.

The building is new, modern, clean everywhere, tasteful and amazing under all aspects.

Again even if this hotel was not in the middle of the rain forest it would still be an incredibly beautiful hotel... But it is and so you're in one of the most beautiful hotels while being surrounded by mother Earth and it's lush nature 😍

I could keep boasting on and on but it's hard to explain how beautiful it is to swim in the amazing pool while staring in awe at the forest. 😱🎉

The room was also amazing (I was at floor 3) with a good sized room with amazing services and furniture an incredibly comfortable bed.

OH the food at the restaurant was also amazing even if a bit on the expensive side, but definitely totally 100% worth every penny. 

Souvenir store was also nice, a bit small but the products that I got were all really nice.. Again a bit expensive but that's expected. 

Thank you Mandai Hotel Staff... You really won a loyal customer if I'll ever happen to be around again and you definitely helped me heal my soul after a tiring working trip. ❤️
