I haven’t stayed in this kind of hotel before, so I don’t have much to compare it to — but our experience was great. We did the typical sightseeing route around Hakone. While you can get closer to the Mount Fuji, it takes more time and an earlier start.
The hotel had everything we needed, so we didn’t even need to go to a store. Breakfast and dinner were both filling and had a good variety.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and had a nice view of the station and mountains. The hotel is right next to the station, which made getting around very easy — and the trains didn’t bother us at all, the sound was even kind of calming.
The public onsen baths were excellent, so we didn’t actually need a private bath in the room.

The bathroom is a bit small, the sheets are average, the balcony is very convenient for hot springs, and other facilities are also complete. It is very quiet to sleep. There are two options for dinner: barbecue and hot pot. I feel that hot pot is more filling. Breakfast is Japanese. Take the bus from Odawara to Ninodaira entrance, and walk 350 meters to the hotel. The distance is not far, mainly uphill.

It is one of the best hotel ever visited, the location is great, near to Gora station, direct bus to Gotemba premium outlet, the room is nice and clean with personal onsen, there are 3 private onsen can be used freely if available. There are even hand grind coffee equipment in the room for you to make coffee. Snack, drink, beer and all beverages are free.

Their breakfast and dinner are outstanding, the dinner is 8 course cuisine, take almost 2 hours to complete. Highly recommended.

Of course all the services come with a price of almost 40000 yen per person per day, but is really worth it. Will stay in the hotel again if revisit Hakone.

A must stay if you are visiting Hakone! It's a 15 minute walk away from Hakone Yumoto station, or you can pay 200 yen to take the shuttle bus there. You can deliver your luggages there using the baggage service at the train station (for a fee). Place is clean and best of all, there's so many perks staying here. Firstly, there's free private onsen (subject to first come first serve). Secondly, dinner and breakfast are provided. Just need to select your preferred timeslot and head to the restaurant then. Food was delicious, and serving was generous as well. They also serve free ramen at 10.30pm, although it was just a simple bowl of noodles. There's also free drinks provided at L1 and L3, and some free snacks as well at the hotel lobby.

An absolutely fantastic hotel with magnificent scenery and surroundings. It even has foot bath pools right at the entrance. Visiting during the off-season, the price was incredibly reasonable. The hot spring baths within the hotel require no extra charge. There are both outdoor and indoor pools, including options for shared and private hot springs. Any private bath with its light on is available for guests to use. However, please note that the private baths do not have shower facilities.

The hotel also organizes several complimentary activities, such as marshmallow roasting. Nestled in a forest, the views are simply breathtaking, no matter where you look.

At specific times, guests can enjoy complimentary ice cream, milk, yogurt, coffee, and afternoon tea. There's also a delicious free dinner offered at certain hours, though restaurant reservations are essential. The beautiful views from the restaurant windows make dining there an absolute delight.

The hotel offers bathrobes in a wide range of colors and patterns, allowing guests to choose according to their personal taste. While the selection for children's bathrobes is more limited (unlike other hotels that often only provide one generic style), the hotel is still very thoughtful and accommodating.

I recently enjoyed a fantastic staycation at a hotel featuring a beautiful onsen, and it was exactly what I needed! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere. The onsen was a highlight of my stay—immersing myself in the soothing hot springs while surrounded by nature was incredibly rejuvenating. 

The hotel’s environment is simply stunning, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I took long walks in the nearby gardens, which were beautifully maintained and provided a peaceful backdrop for relaxation. 

One thing to note is the parking fee of 1100 yen per night ( from 2pm) , which I found reasonable considering the convenience. Overall, this staycation was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy some tranquility. I can’t wait to return for another relaxing getaway!

The Maps lead us to further location And imagine we had passed the building like 3times back and forth but didn’t know that was it. Pls update the location on the maps here on trip. Room is ok, no shower room no big issue coz we go to onsen anyway. Got buffet dinner and breakfast. But receptionist didn’t update the breakfast cut off time is 8:45am and we reach there by 8:50 its already closed. One thing about japanese onsen resort is that they will close everything in the morning to prevent customer to fully utilise the facilities for what we paid for. We usually rest on the evening the day we arrive and only use the facilities in the morning. Not really recommended here  coz they really scare their customer use the facilities😂

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tokinoniwa Onsen Hotel, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility and luxury that defines a perfect Japanese ryokan stay.

The hotel effortlessly blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The staff were exceptionally warm and attentive, ensuring every aspect of the stay was seamless. The check-in process was smooth, and the hospitality throughout my visit was outstanding.

The tatami-style room was beautifully designed, offering both elegance and comfort. The highlight was the private open-air onsen on the balcony, where I could soak in the natural hot spring water while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. The serene ambiance made it a truly rejuvenating experience.

Pro:
- cooked amazing vegetarian dinner and breakfasts (without dashi)
- stunning isolated location in the mountain (7 hours from tokyo)
- open baths are beautiful and open around the clock
- room was spacious and calm

Con
- you need to call them to plan your pickup. They don t really answer written messages online
- strong tobacco smell in the first shuttle bus but not for the return

No towels are provided in the public  hot spring places and needa to bring from room to the onsen spot.

Asked the staff about the routes from Kusatsu to Shinjuku and they have no clue at all. Finally got one English speaking staff told us that theres direct bus from the station to Shinjuku.

Asked again whether advanced booking of the bus tickets are needed and the staff said it’s not necessary. We ended up the next day missed two earlier buses coz they were already full and we were reluctant to have 2 times transport changes by asking the tourism information centre.

Barely staffs can speak and understand English well.

However, the French set dinner are really nice and out of our expectations.
