We visited for Sunday lunch and Im really sorry to say but it is probably the worst Sunday lunch we have ever had, everything was tasteless the beef was so chewy I could only eat half of it, I could go on but my experience was unfortunately not a good one

Very friendly and helpful staff with decent room at a good price and good breakfast. I attended for an evening to go to a wedding locally and found all the staff very helpful. The breakfast the following morning was very good so would recommend.

The room was as per the picture, sort of. The lilac painted woodchip wallpaper was a throwback in time. The free standing rack for clothes hanging had an interesting assortment of hangers complete with a variety of size cubes. the bathroom had liquid soap but no shampoo or conditioner. It would benefit from some mould treatment and a good clean. The bed was large and comfortable. We had a room with an en suite which backed onto the bathroom shared by a number of other rooms on our landing. It had some interesting hazard tape wrapped around the pedestal pipework and the light shade was on the floor. The shower control could not regulate the temperature properly. We had a good night's sleep. Apparently it was recently refurbished, although the stair carpets were quite shocking and torn. I am happy I did not stay before the refurb. The bar tempted with four ale pumps but had only one functioning on a Friday night. There is a car park. It's in a reasonable location to visit the town on foot. The staff are warm, welcoming and friendly. It was not worth £90 but I needed a room for the night and so...

Visited for 2 nights with my son for the wales under 11 cricket festival. Had a double room on top floor which a very big comfortable bed. Room was clean and today with tea and coffee making facilities. Owners were friendly and knowledgable and did a very good breakfast at a reasonable price. Had a couple of pints with them in the bar downstairs and the atmosphere was great! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I’m down again.

Market Tavern, in the centre of Brecon, has its own car park or pay for the neighbouring car park. Short walk into town for shops and cafes. There is nothing glamorous about this pub with rooms, but service is friendly and everything is clean and adequate. Kettle, tea and coffee in the room. Bedding, towels and toiletries did the job without being luxurious and were consistent with the price point of the hotel. Room was warm and comfortable. Views over the street. No noise coming up from the street nor bar on the ground floor. Narrow stairs to upper floors and no lift. Check in at the bar. Breakfast items on the buffet included cereal, fruit and juices. Nothing fancy but adequate. Cooked breakfast was served to the table by the land lady, and was delicious with tasty ingredients. Good value. Good value central place to stay. Landlord and landlady friendly and helpful. Offered lifts to a nearby function venue, because of the lack of local taxi services.

Stayed here for a night as we had a wedding a couple of miles away, as there were no rooms left at the wedding venue. I rang up the host the day before and the landlady kindly said we could pick up the keys and leave our bags there at 10am, Which was great as we didn't need to take our luggage with us. Room was lovely clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was served from 8.30. This is the best breakfast by far we've experienced in a very long time that was piping hot and tasty. Plenty of choice Cereals, Fresh fruit, yoghurt and full English. The hosts were brilliant very welcoming, friendly and made us feel so welcomed. Would definitely stay here again. Once more many thanks.

One of several visits to eat and or drink, particularly to mention the amazing sunday lunch, the tablewas beautifully laid, the food was hot and very tasty, there was plenty of veg all in side dishes, the meat was available as a choice of 1 or for just £1 extra you could have mixed of the available choices, cant wait to go baxk for some more x

This was the only ensuite accommodation that was willing to take my wife, myself and little terrier *****. I booked in and was shown a room on the second floor. The bar closed at 8pm no breakfast was offered. Returned at 9pm and the place was deserted as it was when we left at 9am next morning. My wife is a Stroke survivor so tapered stairs to 2nd floor very difficult to negotiate. 2* Room price at £80 with no breakfast included is expensive . My daughter stayed at the Castle at Brecon at £74 including breakfast they also take pets by arrangement, we will book there next visit to see family. Sorry Market Tavern you deserve your 2* rating.
