On visiting the Castle for the first time in 2 years I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The refurbishment is superb and very inviting. So that's the good part. The restaurant however a different matter. Avoid at all costs the starters. £10 for 3 tiny pieces of Korean chicken that wouldn't fill a mouse or a meat & cheese platter for £15 with a few bits of cheese and a slice of ham was a disgrace talk about a huge mark up. The rest of the meal was no better with under cooked chips and all six of us were not impressed. A long wait between courses and the restaurant was a third full was also annoying. The only decent chips were on the shoulder of the waitress who had a bad attitude. We won't be back which is a shame because the refurb is excellent.

Having stayed here before, coincidentally in the same room, 102, the transformation is remarkable. The service was as good as ever. There was a confusion over the booking, my fault, but Jordan sorted it out without any fuss or drama. We stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast. The 2 young waitresses at dinner, Chloe and Regan, were very friendly and helpful. Susan, the breakfast waitress, remembered my previous visit and I was greeted like an old friend. The general manager, Michael, also couldn't do enough to ensure we were comfortable. The new decor is really tasteful and stylish, and much in line with what I'd expect from a 4 star hotel. Well done everyone.

A beautiful hotel, recently renovated to a high standard. The room, although not massive, was clean and comfortable. There was a lot of noise from people moving around in the room above and from doors banging, we also had noise from the bar but it didn't go on too late. Disappointingly, housekeeping were late coming round on the Sunday and after getting back from a long walk we just put the do not disturb on the door so we could get ready for the evening. There was no safe in the room and a fridge would have been nice. That being said, the ceiling fan was a great touch, as was the coffee machine. Three staff made our stay even better, Michelle the duty manager, Maddie in the restaurant on the evening and Claire the Chef. They were all busy but took the time out to help and talk to us. Will definitely be returning. The hotel has its own car park, and is in a great location for walking along the canal, to the cathedral and, if you want to local shops.

Our Saturday evening experience was wonderful, starting with drinks at the bar and continuing with a truly excellent dinner in the restaurant. The food was superb, but the service was the highlight. The team's attentiveness was remarkable – their friendliness, attention to detail, and genuine care in ensuring we had everything we needed were truly commendable.

We used to live in Brecon so a visit home was in order and I knew the Castle was undergoing a revamp and was a must to try as in the past Peterstone Court was the only place we had stayed in, and sadly the castle wasn’t top of our list,as it wasn’t at that time getting good reviews .We arrived not long after them opening and Easter so a very busy time, it was very busy which was nice to see but we were greeted with professionalism and a very friendly face. We stayed in a superior room which had a great view and was well thought out great super king bed, nice selection of teas and coffees. This would be the only negative the sink is tiny and difficult to wash your face in understand why they have done it to increase space, but it needs also to be functional. Small problem with the hot water and that may be down to how full the hotel was but after my bath there was no more hot water, may be something to look at moving forward. Onto food and service as we booked bed, breakfast and dinner, the restaurant and bar look fantastic and the atmosphere is great and also relaxing great seats and design. On Friday night there was a booking problem which overloaded the staff which caused a delay but George who was fantastic explained this to us which made us aware, and when food arrived it was delicious and good choice of wines and spirits. On the Saturday night completely different fast service and again faultless with George what a great find and does a terrific job, food was again delicious. Parking is limited at the hotel always has been, we have an electric car which moving forward would have been great to have had some charging I know this is difficult with such limited spaces. Will definitely stay again and I think it is one of the best things to happen to Brecon and is really going to be hard to beat and the small things I have mentioned are easy to look at. Shout of again to George and David thanks for looking after us so well.

Mid week dinner with friends. We decided to visit the Castle of Brecon for a friends dinner catch up. I arrived early and I just say the bar staff were exceptional. They were welcoming, immaculate in their dress and really helpful. We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant and were well looked after throughout. We ordered a selection of starters to share and then each had a main meal. The minute steak was cooked perfectly but the peppercorn sauce could have been a bit thicker for my liking. Friends had deserts as well and they looked fabulous and they all enjoyed
