The Grange Guest House

I, husband and son decided to put up a night at Brecon town after our hike up Pen Y Fan on 2 December, 2024. The owners (David and Kathleen) outdid themselves by their warm hospitality. Loved every bit of the family room (#7 coincidentally named Pen Y Fan). The room was rustic, had all the facilities, overlooking a pretty poster-like sight of sheep grazing a hillside. It was such a bliss! We had a hearty breakfast the next morning while engaging in small talk with the cheerful/witty David. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. We will definitely return with our daughter soon as our heart is very close to Brecon town and this special guesthouse.

I cannot praise this bed and breakfast establishment enough. David and Kathleen are excellent hosts and have every right to be exceptionally proud of the guesthouse they run. It’s very clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. There is plenty of parking space behind the property which leads to a delightful garden where guests are invited to sit. I was even able to charge my EV overnight for no additional charge. Our room ( number 5) was large and well equipped with a spotless large bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, especially the local sausages and the fresh fruit and yogurt. David advised us on local restaurants and pubs and when we said we were going to Hay on Wye he told us where to park and gave us a guide to the bookshops there. I would certainly stay there again in a heartbeat.

We stayed here for 2 nights when we came to Brecon for a family wedding. From the moment we arrived David and Kathleen were friendly and welcoming. While David showed my husband, teenage daughter and I to our room Kathleen showed my dad, who is in his late 90s to his room. Kathleen spent a great deal of time with my dad chatting to him, making sure he was comfortable and knew where everything was and how everything work. Her thoughtfulness and kindness in doing this was greatly appreciated by all of us. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and clean. My dad had the ground floor room and we had the attic room, both were great. Breakfast was excellent. The food is delicious and David provides the entertainment with friendly chat and recommendations of where to go and what’s on. If we are in on around Brecon we’d definitely stay here again.

The Grange is the most spotlessly clean accomodation one could ever hope for. Our room, no 5, was bright and spacious, with an equally large bathroom, newly refurbished. David and Kathleen provided everything you could need, from toiletries to tea/coffee and there was a little dining table/chairs as well as two comfortable easy chairs. It was a tranquil place to retreat to after busy days. It is very conveniently located, just a two minute walk to the centre of Brecon. Private parking is an added bonus! There is an enormous selection of books, guides, maps and local information. David and Kathleen are delightfully warm, attentive hosts, providing great choices for breakfast as well as good conversation. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

We had a really lovely couple of nights here. It was so relaxing . Spacious room and bathroom, very clean, great information booklet, lots of personal touches and very friendly hosts. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality. We ate at the Hop in, which was very good, albeit rather cramped and noisy and the Zeera Indian restaurant which was very nice. We found it quite challenging to find restaurants available and even the pizza take away had run out of pizzas (!!) so do book restaurants early as many stop serving at 8pm, which is unheard of where we live. Thank you for a great stay. We look forward to returning one day.

The Grange is in a great location in Brecon and has private parking. We received a warm welcome from the friendly and helpful owners. Our room was very comfortable with many thoughtful touches. There was a good choice for breakfast which was tasty and well-presented. Overall we had a great stay and hope to return.
