The hotel is located between the train station and the festival hall, both of which can be easily reached on foot. My window faced the festival hall and looked out over the park full of old trees. The restaurant's garden is also located there, and is equipped with large, well-protected parasols. I didn't notice any noise at all.
I was there for the 2 opera premieres. Although the hotel must have known about these dates for years, the staff were hopelessly overwhelmed: too few, too inexperienced, too poorly managed. This was noticeable everywhere: at breakfast, in the restaurant, at the bar and when cleaning the rooms. In addition, some of them speak very poor German, which doesn't do justice to the audience. As a guest, I could also see that there was tension within the staff. Some tended to ”do their job by the book,” but some were also very customer-oriented.
The breakfast buffet met expectations, but didn't exceed them. I only ate in the restaurant once. The quality was OK for me, as was the price. It is not a gourmet restaurant, but there are probably a few of those in the area.
The rooms are functional for short trips like in my case. For longer stays you will probably have to live out of a suitcase because there are no storage spaces for shirts, underwear, sportswear, etc. A nice gesture is that you get a free bottle of mineral water (uncooled) every day. I was specifically informed of this when paying the minibar bill; that was also a nice gesture.
The room was clean. There is no evening service (making the bed, changing towels if necessary), but as far as I know the hotel only has 4 stars.
My conclusion: Great location, acceptable standard, but the staff from management downwards needs improvement.
Excellent
