We booked last minute for a double room. The check in was smooth and the room is very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and they have a lounge with free coffee that you can relax in. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was good and the portion was generous.

Lousy service, a disgustingly rude woman in the supermarket and the beer bad. I also heard that a man lives there with a lust for children and the children of the town are not safe. No swimming pool and nothing to be found there. The beds are poor and the food at the Christmas buffet is bad.

Warmly welcomed at reception, I was pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful decor (Nordic wood/cabin style) and excellent food options. Dinner was delicious, and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. The rooms were cozy, clean, and overall very quiet. The “great room” furniture was gorgeous and cozy, and would be a lovely place to sit with a drink and friends to plan your next day. After staying in some barebones accommodations throughout the island, I’m a little surprised that some people are calling this hotel “basic” when it had more amenity and charm than many of the 15+ places I’ve stayed at in Iceland. I would not hesitate to recommend staying here on your journey in East Iceland and will absolutely return to spend the night at this hotel again!

Nice wooden decor on the inside. Rooms are cozy, we did not have the best view. Keys were difficult to use to get in and out of your room. Dinner was okay and breakfast didn’t have many options. Staff were friendly and helpful-I met 2 staff from Poland!

We were about halfway through our trip with Nordic Visitor around the ring road and had to double-up a travel day because the road was literally being closed behind us due to a huge storm approaching. We arrived at 11PM, about an hour after we were supposed to arrive. Nevertheless, we were greeted with an incredible hot meal and cocktails followed by ice cream. The staff patiently waited for us to arrive and quickly got to work. And they were there for breakfast at 7:30 too. Simply amazing. The room was nice warm and cozy, and there was a sitting room right around the corner. It is a great choice for a stay during your adventures in Iceland.

The hotel is presented in the various booking sites as very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately I experienced the "dark side" of this hotel, a really shabby room. Located on the ground floor with little light and overlooking the parking lot, close to the main hall with all the noise that this entails. Minimum dimensions, no space to put 2 suitcases, I had to leave mine on the ground. Aspirator not working, in the morning the windows were completely fogged up. The whole room is to be refurbished!! In the photos taken in the morning you can see the suitcases on the bed, otherwise there was no space to move around the room. The food at dinner was pretty bad. To favor another person in my group, I gave up on the cod and they offered me a vegetarian dish: a kind of turmeric colored rice slop with mashed vegetables on top. To forget. Breakfast however acceptable. Suggestion to those who manage the hotel: room 114 can only be sold at a bargain price, a pity that I paid for it as one of the refurbished rooms visible on the booking sites!!
