Ok if you’re reading this review you’re unable, for what ever reason, to book the five star all singing and dancing accommodation that offers to pander to your every whim (at a price) there’s always a price! Unlike the group of friends I’ve been skiing with for the past 20 years I’m, always the guy that has his accommodation outside the village and has to walk the 2 or 3 kilometres home drunk because I definitely don’t want to waste beer money on a taxi. This gives me a little experience in all things budgetary. So lets get to the point, Cervinia is a small village, the Residence Castelli is literally a five minute walk from the centre (I’ve timed it) and the ski lifts and pass kiosk etc. etc. What you need on a ski holiday, and I’m not asking you I’m telling you, is a clean room, clean beds and bathroom with hot shower and if there’s somewhere to cook up a mess of eggs, then all the better. ( all Castelli rooms have a kitchen-et) if you start reading stuff about dated curtains and fabrics…. Please shut the xxxx up! You’re not buying the place, you’re on holiday! I can honestly report that my stay at this hotel was everything I wanted it to be. The owner was very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms have everything you need and expect including WiFi. All this came as some annoyance to my fellow travellers paying x3 times as much as me to be 200 meters away in the village centre and to have the luxury of being presented with a selection of cold pastries and other continental breakfast snacks first thing in the morning when what they really needed was a bacon/vegan equivalent and egg bap covered in ketchup and a pint of tea!(this is what I made myself for breakfast every morning) This is a very quiet location right next to the supermarket and shops. There’s also a gorgeous patisserie adjacent, it’s a family run business that sells delicious pastries, breads, pizza etc. and is open early in the morning till around 5pm daily. Directly opposite, is a cafe which is also excellent where you can enjoy a great breakfast, but it can be very busy after 8:30am. There isn’t anything else to say because that’s all you need to know. Don’t over think it. Hope this review helps as it’s a genuine opinion from someone who skis on a budget.
