Hotel in the centre of Brewood with good restaurant attached. Service could have been a little quicker but quality of food was excellent. Accommodation was good.

Booked and paid in advance with plenty of availability. Having read reviews specifically requested a room NOT on the 2nd floor Arrived late evening concierge opened the door to confirm where to park and then let the door shut as we walked to hotel entrance with bags! Nit a good start. We then checked in and had to almost beg fir a 2nd key- really! No instructions as to where the room was so had to hunt for it to only find it was on the 2nd floor !! Given the temperature of the day no one had thought about the heat in the room leaving the curtains open and window shut it was like walking into an oven. The reception didn’t inform us that there was a fan in the room which was hidden in a cupboard not that it was any use as the cable was too short to reach a power point and stand on a table it could only sit on the floor.

Excellent and rather quirky hotel. Large public car park to the rear. Rooms very clean and every one is different. Restaurant is excellent and good drinks choices. The breakfast was the best I have ever experienced in all my traveling years - see the photo. Super helpful staff was the icing on the cake.

I have just returned after 3 great nights at this gem of a hotel. The staff were amazing. I didn't book a special room but I believe it was Oscar who took us to the room and noticed I was struggling (my balance is no good. But I hate to admit it) very discreetly he asked my partner if a room on a lower floor would be better. It was. During my stay my partner had family problems so I ate dinner on my but the staff were absolutely brilliant. The hotel is full of character and I highly recommend it.

The food was fantastic, and felt very well looked after by the staff, in particular Reiss. :) would recommend. The breakfast was also great. There is also a nice canal just down the road, which I managed to make use of going for a run while working away.

We stayed for 4 nights in a King Superior room. Some things were good and some not so good. Access would be a problem if you struggled with mobility. It's an old building with narrow, steep staircases and feel quite unsafe. In fact, one of the steps feels as if it is about to give way. This is the middle of three treads as you go up to the first floor bedrooms.I'm glad that I'm not very heavy and pretty agile. Our bedroom on the first floor was over the toilets of the restaurant. The extractor fan below sounded like the throb of a engine on a cross channel ferry and vibrated the floor. What's more it keeps coming on and going off as people went to the loo. If you go to bed at about 10.30, as we do, this is a real problem. You may think that Brewood is probably a quiet village. However, there was a loud bar across the road with DJ at the weekend. We could hear the music in our room and people were raucous when leaving. The old single glazed windows gave no protection from the noise. We had breakfast on each of the four mornings. If you want a cooked breakfast there is a choice of 4/5 cooked alternatives. However, if you would prefer fruit, yoghurt, croissants, or anything else it is not available. Also, we had to wait an hour for breakfast to be served on Tuesday morning. The delay was due to a group of 6 non residents who came in for breakfast. When you book rooms you are advised to book tables for the restaurant. We didn't but it is essential to do this at weekends. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff that we met were not very helpful or engaging. They need training on how to be customer focused in recognition that they are in the hospitality business. We hope that our comments are helpful but we will not find out if changes are made as, on our next visit to the area, we will stay at another hotel.

Pros: Great location, lovely building and a nice room. The staff were also welcoming. My one criticism was the room did not get cleaned and tea/coffee replenished during our stay. Cons: The breakfast was the poorest quality I have had in a long time. I travel a lot with work and stay in a lot of hotels, including Travelodge & Holiday Inn. The breakfast here is nowhere near the quality of either of those chain hotels. The coffee is served yourself by using sachets and a hot water urn (no fresh coffee machine nor cafetière option). Barista coffee can be ordered at an additional £3-4 per cup. I ordered scrambled eggs on toast. The eggs were tasteless, watery and appeared to have come out of a catering supplies carton of ready mixed egg. The bread was also the cheapest of supermarket white loaves. Overall, the breakfast was so poor I did not bother going for the remainder of my stay. Given the price paid for the room, it really felt like they were going for style over substance - serving poor quality food on expensive tableware. Not good.

Very welcoming atmosphere & staff. Lovely loft room which was clean & warm (it was snowing outside when we arrived) The room had everything we needed and was very spacious. A fantastic Staffordshire breakfast served by friendly staff. The hotel has a lovely restaurant serving a great variety of food

On the whole the hotel was very clean and cosy, and the lady on the night staff was very welcoming and pleasant ! The breakfast was very well prepared and tasty! for the price paid we did not expect to have instant coffee/satchets and to make our own, and not to have a further charge for a barista style coffee! We paid an extra £15 for a late checkout so we could relax before leaving only to be disturbed by a young man servicing the door locks of which we had no pre warning of ! Also the wifi was vitually none existent on the secong floor , these issues would of been raised but no one on the reception upon leaving
