High Country Motor Inn

Very comfortable beds, clean and close to river walk to town (15mins). Lovely garden setting and helpful staff. Chairs in our room had peeling vinyl which was not a good look, and exhaust fan in bathroom not working. Our room #15 was quiet and we could barely hear neighbours, but not so for our friend in #2 who was woken a few times by sound of coughing next door. Sound insulation between rooms seems to be a frequent design problem in so many motels :(

Beautiful location and gardens and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Loved the recommendation to walk into town along the river rather than the street! Very spacious room and comfy bed. Pool was a little chilly!😂😁🥶😉

Clean, roomy and really appreciate we can have our dog with us. Heating in room was great as well as electric blankets. Location walking distance to shops. Very affordable we would stay again. Nice grassy area

The room was clean , spacious and comfortable . Apart from a queen size bed and a single bed there was a two seater lounge , table and chairs. The bathroom doubled up with some basic kitchen facilities, fridge , electric jug , toaster etc . I asked for and was given a micro wave oven to use. The room has everything I needed , I enjoyed my stay . The grounds that include a pool and playground facilities for kids were well kept . The Ovens River is only a short walk away . The town was only a short drive away .

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the room change that occurred during my stay at High Country Motor Inn Bright. I had booked a 2 bedroom Family Suite for one night on the 24th of April 2023, and upon arrival, I was informed that I had been given a single family room instead. When I walked up to the reception to enquire about the change, I was shocked to hear that they were already expecting this complaint, indicating that this is not an isolated issue. The lady at the reception informed me that instead of charging me the X amount for the 2 bed room suite that I had booked, they charged me the Y amount, assuming that I would be happy with the change. However, this assumption is incorrect, as I had booked the 2 bedroom Family Suite in advance and expected to stay in that room. I was disappointed that the hotel staff did not discuss the change with me prior to my arrival and just made changes without informing me. As a customer, I expect better hospitality and communication from the hotel staff. I understand that issues can arise, but it is important to inform customers prior to making changes to their bookings. The lack of transparency in this matter has left me dissatisfied with the hotel's services and the quality of hospitality. I advise future guests to be cautious while booking rooms at High Country Motor Inn Bright and ensure that they confirm their room reservations before arrival.

This is not a great place to stay. It is very dated and in desperate need of upgrading. The photos make it look better than it is. The bathroom was awful and the old metal commode in the bathroom area was a real put off. The beds were not really comfortable and the heater was very noisy. We had to hunt for a powerpoint to charge phones and the one we found was loose in the wall which seems really unsafe. The remote for the TV did not work. We booked for 2 nights but left after one. They did not give us our money back for the one night we didn't use, stating they don't refund cancellations. Such a disappointing way to start our holiday. We stayed in many places around Victoria and NSW on our trip and got much better and nicer accommodation everywhere else, for the same price as we paid for this property. It is way overpriced for what it is.
