Palacio Tondon, la Rioja Brinas

Beautiful hotel by the river. In a small nondescript but really beautiful and peaceful village. Felt totally out of this world. Room size is ok, room is nice and contemporary. Expensive toilet fittings. Window overlooks the river, which is soothing to look at. If I could draw or paint, it would be a perfect spot to do so. The only flaw is the interior designer focused only on the aesthetics and didn’t pay more attention to function (hence my rating of 4 rather than 5). Shower cubicle is all glass; could be really sexy but it would be nice to have some private moments, even if you are traveling with your partner. I imagine it would be odd if traveling with a friend. There was nowhere to hang your towel after a shower, except to hang it in the toilet with the toilet bowl, which doesn’t feel quite sanitary or pleasant to me. Dining room is charming and breakfast room is even more so. Hotel staff are helpful and polite. The hotel is a leisurely but long (45 minutes) stroll or a 5 minute drive to the wineries at Haro (Muga, CVNE). If you feel like eating something different, a small cafe / bar just a stone’s throw away from the hotel entrance, managed by a lovely lady, serves delicious food at super reasonable prices. The hotel has no parking available but you can park anywhere around the hotel so long as you don’t block anyone’s entrance.

One of the best if not the best hotel I’ve come across in a long time . Beautiful surroundings, lovely staff , very clean and the restaurant was good too . Breakfast in a small room , buffet and some cooked food served at the table was very relaxed. Lovely hot coffee , capsules . Definitely recommend booking a room with view of river. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful . Staff in bar /restaurant very good too . Borja and Jesus and their colleague make sure that you are well looked after and enjoy your meal . Highly recommend

Amazing location and outstanding staff. We traveled with our four-year-old girl and the entire staff treated her special. The breakfast is great, and the view is something special. We will definitely return. Oh, the shower water pressure is to die for!

Beautiful hotel with beautiful view in a small town. The wine cellar was amazing, we did a wine tasting with amazing tempranillos. They had a cafe with great food. Close to all the best wineries and walking distance from Vega Scilia. We would definitely come here again.

We booked for two nights and the website clearly showed the type of room to expect but if you keep swiping you see the terrible 3rd floor rooms that have no windows just a skylight with no view I would never have stayed at this hotel had we known we were in an attic we tried to move but we’re told there was no other choice the room itself was awful with the roof line reducing the actual usable room size by 50 per cent .The hotel itself looks tired and under staffed .We realised the restaurant was going to be a disaster and cancelled our booking to eat in it .The fitness room was just a room with nothing in it just an empty room.I would not recommend staying unless you know the actual room you are going to be in as the rooms in the attic will ruin your stay.

We had a lovely stay at Palacio Tondon. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The location right next to the Ebro River is very cool. They offer a nice breakfast every morning. The service is outstanding across the board…very friendly, helpful people.
