We travelled to Bruges to spend new year at die Swaene. It is a wonderful hotel in a perfect location close to the historic centre. All the staff were very friendly and so helpful in particular those working at reception and those serving breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast incidentally is excellent with plenty of choice and warm egg dishes made to order. Perfect. A lovely historic and quirky hotel with many period fixtures and furnishings. However, if you like your hotel to be sparse and minimal then this is not a hotel for you.

What a wonderful hotel and now my favourite in Brugee. We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over the last 10 years in Bruges. They’ve been noisy and small. This hotel was perfect. It’s so quiet. Our room overlooked the Canal and we didn’t hear any traffic or tourists. The hotel is very well decorated and so are the rooms. Our room was very big to say we were staying in the centre of Bruges. We have two very large dogs and they were made to feel very welcome. Yes, our dogs were very well behaved, but it was nice to know our dogs were treated with so much respect and love. This is very much a pet friendly hotel. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. They were extremely welcoming, the rooms were very clean as was the rest of the hotel. The food was phenomenal and plenty of it. We’re talking high end food with freshly squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs and crispy bacon, fresh fruit and pastries and so much more!!! Everything looked so pretty inside. We love the decor, very Bruges!!!! Thank you for the best four days we can’t wait to come and visit again Diana, Stuart and our two dogs Abbie and Patchy ❤️

I cannot fault this place. It had such a wonderful unique style, the bathroom was modern and wonderful (double sinks, hot towel rail, separate toilet, strong hot shower). One of the only places in Bruges with a sauna and swimming pool too. The staff were the highlight though - they went above and beyond for me and my partner, finding us places to eat when we arrived late at night and vegan friendly spots too. There’s parking and the breakfast was amazing with so much choice - again they really catered to us - special thanks to Lionel! Thanks for making our stay in Bruges so much more wonderful.

A nice hotel in Bruges. Worth a visit if you can get a good deal on price. But please beware of the issues as stated in my review. The hotel entrance is quaint and luxurious looking. The room we had was classed as a suite and had a relatively nice view of the canal and belfry. One of the window chain latches was broken which I noticed on the last day. There are some improvements that would be welcomed especially for future guests. We were looking forward to the breakfast as the reception staff told us we could have our eggs any way with ham and salmon etc. On the first day of breakfast I asked for poached eggs but was told they couldn’t do them so I asked if I could have scrambled eggs which they did. The guest table next to me asked for eggs with salmon and was told they don’t serve salmon only on weekends. The orange juice was not replenished so I asked and was told by one of the kitchen staff that “I am on my own” The breakfast choice is an absolute disaster for the price you pay. The service, the food choice and the attitude from the staff (although friendly) is not good as it seems as if there was nothing available and it was a very disorderly process asking for or ordering anything. The second day of breakfast there was no orange juice, no cheese. The coffee machine ran out of water and it took 15 minutes for someone to fill it up, Yoris finally appeared with a plastic container full of water. There was a queue of unhappy bemused looking people. 10 minutes later the coffee machine stopped again - drip tray was full. Again a queue was forming including me who was thirsting for coffee. When we left there was still no cheese or orange juice being served. Breakfast was a big big let down on both days and if we were there any longer then we would’ve eaten out elsewhere. Dogs are also allowed to be walked around the breakfast area by guests. This is a big hygiene issue and if anyone has pet hair allergies then this could cause a big problem. These dogs were not service dogs of any kind. When we left we asked Yoris where to get the bus, he was unaware of how to get to Bruges train station by bus or where the bus went from. The pool area was warm but there were lots of dead insects and flies around pool area. Pool side filters open and not covered so a small child or baby could easily swim into the filter hole. Towels in room very dated. Swing door in bathroom was dangerous for young children as it was heavy and could swing both ways and easily catch a child’s or adults hand at that. Our son ran into the glass entrance door to the pool and had a bump on his head. We got some ice and the lady on reception said it had been reported and a sticker lower down the door would be applied. This hotel could be so much better and for the money you pay it needs to be better. Our stay was good - but not amazing so I’d have to give it 3.4/5.

We stayed two nights at Hotel Die Swaene, and loved it so much, that we booked an additional two nights. This hotel is a perfect reflection of Bruges itself, located in a historic building which belonged to an painter, whose paintings adorn the hotel—as explained to us by one of the hotel keepers. Most impressive, the excellent and modern sauna which reaches a solid 70 degrees (celsius), housed in a space containing also a fine pool. The hotel boasts a magnificent ballroom that is currently in restoration—a space that promises to be majestic upon completion. The hotel staff is exquisite. Sylvie and Marlene were our primary contacts there. They were profoundly accommodating and gracious. The breakfast is excellent, served in an intimate but spacious area which a covered terrace section that brings in the sunlight. The two breakfast servers are superb—very diligent, and sensitive to individual requests. I come regularly to Bruges, and this hotel will surely be a frequent stop-point during my work periods in this magical city.

Die Swaene is one of my favorite stays anywhere in the entire world! A true 10* … the best! Our room (35) was gorgeous with canal views. Hotel location is ideal. Quick walk to every thing but on a quiet side street/canal. Slept so well comfie bed. Decent TV. Super clean spacious bathroom with shower/tub. The pool was a delight after walking all day. Breakfast was outstanding! Buffet with lovely choices and they also offered fresh egg options like omelettes, etc. Service everywhere in this hotel was best of the best … from checkin to breakfast to cleaning crew. Brugge was super crazy on May Day (5/1) so we were blessed with such a fabulous place to return to after touring around all day. Also easy to access from train station via #1 or #2 bus.

The hotel is beautiful in a fantastic setting overlooking the canal. Our rooms had a view of the canal and were beautifully furnished with large comfortable beds. Breakfast is amazing and the staff can’t do enough. We made use of the swimming pool and the sauna, which were great after a day of wondering the city. Got great recommendations on restaurants from the reception. Special big thank you to SHEIKKIJE who looks after everybody at breakfast. She does an amazing job and is so friendly and helpful. We had a serious medical emergency in the early hours of the morning and had to run down and ask her to call an ambulance. She was absolutely brilliant. She stayed calm got us the help we needed and made sure we were all okay. Not related to the hotel I know but the ambulance Fire Brigade and all the staff at Bruges hospital were absolutely amazing and looked after my brother who had a serious seizure. He couldn’t have had better treatment anywhere.

Can't say enough about this hotel The location is the best you will find.It is 5 min from city center and there is a group of restaurants less than 2 min from the front door. We were greeted by Marijke who was wonderful. She pointed out the parking lot, gave us umbrellas as it was raining and when we returned, our luggage had been taken to our room. She was patient with directions, even when we got lost and had to ask again. We were always greeted with a smile when we entered the door. Their customer service is excellent! It was unseasonably warm when we were there and Marijke went out and got us a fan for our room. The room itself was gorgeous, it opened to the canal and we could hear the bells. Just close the door, and you don't hear any noise. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and had everything you could ask for. This hotel was the highlight of our trip.
