I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Elite World Grand Hotel, conveniently located on Basin Ekspres in Istanbul, and the experience was nothing short of outstanding. We stayed 2 nights here and liked that it was close to a subway stop. Our room on the 3rd floor (309) was quiet and decent sized. We heard others in our tour group mention that their rooms were small, but that was not our experience. The room had every amenity that we needed and were pleased with the amount of counter space in the bathroom, very hot water and that wash cloths were provided. The included breakfast had a great number of options with plenty of seating. The only minor items that I can mention was that our mini refrigerator did not keep things cool and our bathroom sink faucet squealed (as did our neighbors’) if you did not turn on enough water pressure.

The hotel has 270 rooms and was built in the mid 1970’s, and recently updated. Giving this hotel a 4.2 hinge rating, and is only that low because neither of us could figure how to get the shower to work, otherwise it is a very nice modern hotel. We are in room 601 and a nice King bed following 10 days on the boat with separate beds. One interesting thing is the outside walls of the structure are 4 ft thick (inside the window through a long opening) unknown if it is for insulation or what. There is an additional 1 ft thick addition space that Tom believes is for ventilation services (total outside to inside wall is 5 ft). Very nice indoor pool.
