Lovely hotel with old world charm. We were there for the steak night and everything was cooked as we wanted. Served in charming restaurant with attentive service from the young staff. Unbeatable value for money. Loved the photos in the lounge of old Leintwardine and environs.

As a frequent traveller it is rare to find an hotel which scores highly in every area but The Lion is one of those. The check in and check out were efficient, warm and friendly whilst the team were all professional, smartly presented and very helpful at all times The room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and well furnished. The food was well prepared and beer well kept- well done team - a rare gem and I hope to stay with you again at the first opportunity!

Stayed overnight on our wedding anniversary. Excellent accommodation the bed was extremely comfortable and our room was spotless. Super location by the river. The food was top quality and breakfast was the best we have had in a long time: good selection of drinks very friendly and helpful staff. Can recommend

The Lion has a bit of a monopoly when it comes to good food and drink. There are not many places to choose from, in this sleepy corner of Herefordshire. However, the place does not rest on it's laurels. We enjoyed a very nice meal on a rather busy Saturday evening. The staff were all pleasant and friendly, and the food did not disappoint. The mushroom soup was a real delight, and the mains were more than satisfactory. A very pleasant visit.

Lovely pub in a gorgeous setting but very over priced. Had a Pork Roast which was bland and cost £22 and a bottle of their Rose Wine was £27 but across the road in The Sun it was £16.50. A total rip off. Staff were friendly but when they did a check back on the food and I said it was bland he just ok thanks and walked off. Not what I’d expect for paying those prices.

Excellent pub/restaurant (see separate review), comfortable well equipped rooms, and a picturesque riverside location. The hotel makes a good base for the numerous walks in the area, and the bar is a good place to meet both the friendly locals and fellow guests. The staff always go that extra mile.

A group or 8 stayed for 3 nights in January. It was cold outside and lovely and warm in the hotel. We were made very welcome by all the staff. Rooms were very good and clean. The food was first very good and full of flavours. Will stay again. Thankyou to a great team

We have just returned from a visit to this wonderful establishment. The location is idyllic, right on the river Teme. Our stay did not go without a hitch BUT, it was handled and resolved, in a professional and extremely helpful way by the lovely Manager Jess. Nothing was too much trouble for her - an absolute gem! Because of the extreme hot weather our first night was torture, being over the kitchens, but fans, cold drinks and ice were readily provided to help us out. A special mention here to Amelia who was so very sweet to me and couldn’t do enough to try to alleviate my discomfort. We were moved to a different room the following morning. Both rooms were lovely, well furnished with comfy beds and great bathrooms. We ate in the restaurant both evenings - excellent food and all served by very friendly staff. Breakfast was great too. A choice of juices, cereals, fruit etc to help yourself to, and a good choice of hot dishes too. One lovely girl gets a special mention here. Thank you Niamh for looking after us so well, particularly the way in which you handled everyone deciding to go in for breakfast at more or less the same time on our last morning. You never wavered in your enthusiasm and friendliness, despite the enormous amount of effort it must have taken. A wonderful girl. The Manager has put together a lovely team of staff - thanks to them all from us both. We would not hesitate to stay here again and will probably go out of our way to, should we ever be in the area.
