It’s not often I leave reviews but credit where credit’s due ! My wife and I along with a large group of friends had dinner at this recently improved hotel and I have to say that everything was perfect! We were greeted on arrival by very welcoming staff who really went above and beyond all evening . Our meal was first rate and the surroundings and decor was outstanding ,we particularly liked the log fires and laid back atmosphere. We were told that the hotel is currently being refurbished and big things are planned , we look forward to returning in the very near future !

This hotel is in a really lovely setting and we enjoyed a very nice meal with friends. The staff were friendly and very attentive. We have been before but not recently so we were pleasantly surprised to see that the bar area and toilets have been refurbished and they said there are lots more changes to come in the future.

We visited in February with 12 friends for dinner which was amazing, the food the staff and the restaurant were fantastic nothing was to much trouble and most of the hotel has been refurbished since our last visit. The hotel is in a beautiful secluded setting and we will definitely be returning soon. A gem of a hotel in the Suffolk countryside.

Overnight stay at Ravenswood. Charming atmospheric old house that was only relatively recently turned into a hotel. Bit of a Fawlty Towers feel but staff were attentive and friendly. We had drinks and a light meal in the bar area and that was nice The room had a noticeably sloping floor but it all added to the charm Nice breakfast complete with resident rooster looking on from outside. Nice grounds and convenient location on edge of Bury St Edmunds

I booked the 2-night weekend via an external site as a surprise birthday treat for my wife and my daughter and son-in-law accompanied us. On arrival we were greeted by the welcoming smell of a log fire burning in the 16th century fireplace. After the usual formalities at reception we found our room and found that we had a charming double-aspect room with 4-posted bed. Outside a deer was exploring the lawns! The room was very comfortable and had tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was clean and adequate. You have to remember that this a a 16th century building; sloping floors and wonky doors add to the charm. We ate out on Friday evening but breakfast the next morning was all you could want with hot cooked food if desired or cereals, croissants etc offered as an alternative (or addition!). Included in our package was afternoon tea and this was taken on Saturday as our lunch. None of us were keen on the cakes but the sandwiches and scones with jam and clotted cream were devoured with relish. Dinner in the evening was excellent, especially as Spotted Dick was on offer. Our steaks were pretty good. Sunday morning breakfast was a repeat of Saturday's and then it was time to go. Overall, this was a great weekend. I'd do it again anytime.
