Golden Club Cabanas

Currently here on holiday, having read previous reviews bit worried, but the pools are great, food is fine no issues good variety, had the best massage at the health club today and have booked for another one. Rooms are bit dated but comfortable enough. It is an old Portuguese town so if you want night life not for you, but if looking for relaxing stay can’t go wrong.

We have been coming to this resort for a number of years, but last year was a bit disappointing, (wont bore you with the details, it was more our own reasons,), However we decided to come this year, I requested a sunset apartment, in a quieter part of the resort, high floor with a view of the Rio Formosa, and that is exactly what I got, the apartment was clean very spacious, cleaned every 2 days, with towel changed, bedding is changed once a week. Unfortunately our stay for 3 weeks was let down by the weather, eve the locals where complaning they had never seen it that bad, however we made the best of it, we were all inclusive, and I have to say, we were never disappointed, there is not a huge choice, but what there is, is of a very good standard. The grounds a very well maintained, and the Boat to the beach is a must, it is stunning, however, there are no facility's so please do take water with you. As we have been coming for a number of years, we have got to know quiet a few of the staff, and always had a laugh, but on the subject of staff, please treat them with respect, they are not you personal slaves, clear your table when finished, and a simple please and thank you in Portuguese is always appreciated, and of course the odd tip :-) 😊. Please also bear in mind this a 3* resort, not the Ritz, or savoy, that said, I do think it deserves another ⭐⭐⭐⭐, to all the staff Muito Obrigardo, for your hospitality, and keeping us amused, even if the weather was not the best

We booked a bowls holiday for 23 bowlers with Algarve bowls for April 2025 and golden club hotel cabanas is our base .As We hadn't been to here before my partner and myself decided we should have a holiday here to check it out again David from Algarve bowls sorted it all out for us .We arrived at Faro airport in September 24 David picked us up and Our holiday began . On arriving at hotel we were greeted by reception staff with smiles and friendliness and couldn't have been treated better .The apartment was beautiful and clean ,the beds were comfortable and plenty of space .The apartment was cleaned daily .The bar area was lovely and clean, the drinks were very palatable and the used glasses were cleared and not allowed to build up on tables as we've seen happen in many all inclusive hotels we've stayed in .Again the bar staff always had a smile and were always polite and happy to serve us .The animation team performed lovely shows and very nice and professional .Also there was some shows from artists from outside the hotel .The pool areas yes there was two pools a quiet one and a lovely one were the animation team entertained the clients .The team never stopped all day and evening their energy was unbelievable as was their teamwork .The spa and indoor pool again cleanliness and lovely friendly staff .The restaurant outside seating area and inside seating areas again were kept clean and tidy .However the food though was hot and varied though not a lot of choices we never left the restaurant hungry or satisfied remember golden club is a three star so don't expect Five star good .We played bowls at the local bowls club Pedas De Raina beautiful greens and a very friendly club We had a trip out to other greens and took in a trip to Spanish border with David Algarve bowls .We had a trip to Travira travelling on the local bus the BUS stop over the road to the hotel it was a lovely place and we'll worth a visit .The boat to the beach again it's only a few mins and the boat has a gang plank excellent for anyone with a little mobile problems to walk up into boat and not having to climb in .The guy very helpful .The village is only 5mins walk away a boardwalk with plenty of benches to sit on and wile away the day plenty of bars ,restaurants so if you don't wish to eat at hotel you'll certainly won't starve .Irish bar at the far end of the board walk love music couple nights a week and to be fair the food was nice there .you can also book boat trips water sports ECT at kiosks along the front .There is a shopping area you can go to by the local bus around 20mins away . Oh yes I forgot we did have a massage at the spa at the hotel this is a must go on treat yourself your on holiday . We were really happy and thoroughly enjoyed our trip and can't wait to return in April .All I can say is hotel golden club cabanas is a three star cheap and cheerful hotel staffed by really nice people .We loved it .

Extremely disappointed by standard of apartment very outdated and basic. Kick boards under sink and kitchen unit has large holes, mould in bathrooms, all in all one of worst apartments we have used plus saw a large rat climbing on branches of Bush covering our balcony. The buffet restaurant on site not worth the €50 charged for us both so used good local restaurants for quality food and lower prices..

Check before you arrive if the entertainment and health club is open. They failed to tell me when I booked, this is the reason for booking this hotel. When i contacted love holiday and the Hotel, there is nothing they could do as it was a scheduled maintenance. Was not happy about this at all. We should have been informed when booking. Arrived and got straight into our apartment. It was basic enough. Bathroom had mould on floor and around the bath. The food was just ok, same food every other day, it was never hot, not much selection. The 1st morning we went into the bathroom and there was water coming down through bathroom light, had to go to reception twice to get them to do something about it. They changed us to another apartment, it was the same, mould and paint hanging off the walls. I woke up with bites on me, I think there was bed bugs, but was afraid to look. The pools are nice, but not much to do apart from go to pool during the day and bar at night. No entertainment at all. Staff friendly, but they doing their job. The town itself is very quiet not many shops or entertainment. Will not be back.
