On the plus side there were some lovely touches with three cottage being decorated for Halloween. And the site is ideally situated for this party of the Peak District. However, it should be made clear that the beds are 2ft6 beds, not proper singles. We booked a cottage with two king beds, but got two twins instead. The cottages are tiny and the kitchens not at all well equipped. The detachable shower head didn't work and the water pressure was poor with a single boiler servicing all cottages. The games room is simply a shed with a table tennis table in which is unheated and unlit so can't be used after dark. The cottages are incredibly overpriced. We've stayed in loads of self catering properties across the UK, and stayed in much nicer places at the same time of the year for half the price in much more popular and expensive parts of the country. We won't be staying again and wouldn't recommend to others.

From start to finish the experience was great. Communication from Joanne and Tim has been fab, emails back and forth with any questions or concerns which is very much appreciated. The house was a great hen party house having so much of everything, plates, cutlery, 2 fridges etc. The beds were super super comfy and everything honestly was just great. We all said we can’t wait to come back with our families. Thank you Jo & Tim for a great stay! X

We have spent a weekend in the hall this summer and also last summer with a group of friends. The kids in the group loved the garden with a tree swing and little stream to find all sorts of wildlife. Short walk across a field to carsington water or a little drive to the visitor centre, park and water sports. The kitchen is a great social space. The bbq and hot tub great addition. The bedrooms have lots of space in them and very comfy. I wasn’t the organiser but the owners have been very helpful and someone came to check we have enough tea towels/toilet roll etc.

This was our second year staying at Stainsborough Hall and cottages. We are a group of mixed families with children aged 2-9. The property is perfect for large groups with lots of outdoor space and brilliant location near Carsington Water. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen, bbq and hot tub. The owners are flexible, considerate and excellent with communication. Would highly recommend this spacious, clean property. We hope to be back next year!

High quality accommodation in a scenic and quiet location. We really appreciated the tennis court, games room and play area which helped keep our young children amused. It was nice to be able to walk over the fields to Carsington Water, and not have to get the car out.

Along with our family, we recently enjoyed a memorable weekend at Stainsborough Hall in the Derbyshire countryside celebrating our 60th Wedding Anniversary. It proved to be a great venue with lots of facilities which met all our needs and expectations. The owners, Tim and Joanne could not have been more helpful. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Hall to anyone wishing to spend some time in this lovely part of the country. Gill & Barrie F

I spent a long weekend at Stainsborough Hall for my wife's 50th (17 guests). The host was very communicative, the check-in was straightforward and the house, grounds and location are gorgeous. Try the local pub - The Miner's Arms - too! Recommended

Amazing house with everything you need! The team were very helpful and let you enjoy the stay whilst being there if you needed anything. The house offers enough space for large groups and the kitchen and dining facilities are great. We will be back!!

I booked Stainsborough hall for my sisters hen party for 18 people. We had the most perfect weekend. The hall is even better in real life than the photos. It’s really well set out for large groups of people and has everything we needed, games room, large open kitchen diner, hot tub, tennis court, plenty of seating for everyone and more. It’s close to some villages but far enough away from everyone that you felt like you were in your own little bubble. Check in was easy and owners easy to contact if need. We’ve already talked about coming back to stay for family birthdays! Perfect getaway!
