Villa Alto Boutique Hotel

We were greeted by very helpful and enthusiastic staff . They informed us of all the amenities available ( parking / Swimming Pool ) and also Breakfast Times/‘Location . The interior layout is stunning , a ‘colonial’ house with lot of different rooms for you to relax / read / share a drink etc . The views of the surrounding hills and towards the Coast are truly stunning . You get a real feel for what Madeira is all about , beautiful n natural landscapes , plunging Cliffs into the sea and of course an array of beautiful plants in bloom .

Beautiful building, with great views down the hillside and out to sea. Lovely big room, with nice balcony, comfortable beds. Kettle, teas and mini-fridge were appreciated. The lady on reception was very friendly and answered our questions. Unfortunately the restaurant was not serving any dinner and the pool hadnt been cleaned and looked out of action, it was early in the season but neither was informed to us before our stay.

An amazing little hotel. Staff was super nice and helpful. Rosa, was taking care of us in a dining room and breakfast was so delicious. Highly recommend this place ❤️

The hotel is fairly high up the hillside, so the drive up is exciting! The hotel itself is amazing. We had a great corner room and balcony with amazing sea and valley views. The staff were very friendly. The only downside was the restaurant was only open for breakfast during our stay, so dinners had to be elsewhere.

Beautiful tranquil hotel Great little gem high up on the mountain which gorgeous tranquil views. Receptionist was super helpful and very informative, always helped us where we can. Couldnt fault the hotel, it was a lovely stay, great staff..amazing breakfast and beautiful nooks around the hotel. A joy to stay.

Villa Alto is a lovely old house set high up in the hills above Ponta do Sol. With beautiful views. You will definitely need a hire car. The Staff are wonderful and work very hard to make you feel welcome. The breakfast is amazing, all freshly made from scratch. Sadly there was no dinner service available during our stay. Our room (no 9)was small and needed some TLC. The weather during our stay was stormy and the room was cold and damp. The curtains were stained and hanging from the rails. The sash windows need attention/replacement as all three were exposed to the wind and rain. We would definitely return to Villa Alto and hope for better weather.

It was a beautiful older but full of character villa. Breakfast was top notch. The staff were very friendly and willing to point you in the right direction. Would definitely come back

Our pillows smell like sweat, the bathtub had rust, there were bugs in our room but the front desk staff was fantastic.
