I booked to stay at Peregrine House, which is an annex of another hotel. Owing to a change of ownership, it was all rather confusing, but worked out very well in the end. I booked for Peregrine House, and was told it was on Hawks Lane, and I was to get my keys from Castle Hotel.. Then, immediately, I received another email saying I had to collect my key instead from Pilgrim's Hotel, The Friars! I turned up at Pilgrim's Hotel and the young lady at Reception was very nice, and explained the confusion was due to change of ownership that week. I then went to my room in Peregrine Hotel. The sign I saw was Hawks Lane Lodge, and later I saw that there is another sign above that saying Peregrine House. So when they get that sorted, it will be great!! Peregrine Hotel is down a little lane, off the main High Street, and was a bit dark at night. I am a lady on my own. But Peregrine House is ok once inside. The door is secure, and it is very clean inside. I stayed in Room 4 upstairs. It was very quiet and the window looked out on to an inside courtyard below. No street or other noise. Furniture in the room is dated, but ok. Room was a single, and the bed was ok but mattress could do with a firmer one instead. Bedding comfortable and clean. I was however rather cold in the night, in spite of a duvet on the bed, but there was no extra blanket. The en suite was fine, clean. Shower, toilet, basin, and shampoos, soap etc provided. In the room, there is a kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits, a nice decent sized mug, Also, a hairdryer. There is a small TV on the wall. One of the ceiling light bulbs had blown, and the strip light over the basin did not work. I left a message for housekeeping. Wonderful big, soft, cosy bathsheet towel! Clean carpet. Would stay again. Would recommend...as long as you realise that Reception and breakfast is at Pilgrim's hotel (opposite the Marlow Theatre). ”Hot” breakfast at Pilgrims (included in my room rate) was ”ok”. I chose the Vegetarian option and declined the egg. But it was just two rather dry vegetarian ”sausages”, a ready bought heated rosti, a few mushrooms, a small spoonful of wilted spinach, a couple of spoonfuls of beaked beans and a tomato. Dining room there at Pilgrim's almost too quiet! Toast, croissants etc available at buffet bar. A GOOD POINT IS THAT YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR BAG AFTER CHECK OUT, IN A LOCKED CUPBOARD AT PILGRIM'S, SO YOU DON'T NEED TO WALK AROUND ALL DAY WITH IT!
Excellent
