Harpers House

We stayed for 2 nights before flying home to the UK at the end of our garden route tour. The property is conveniently located within a short walk of the waterfront although if going out or returning at night I would suggest getting an UBER as with everywhere. The room was beautiful and full of character I didn’t get a chance to ask the symbolism of the big red C above the in room fireplace. The shower and toiletries were lovely as were the towels and gowns. Our only slight issue was that we were put in a downstairs room and it’s was very noisy and you could hear people walking around and even hear the radio in reception so if you are planning morning sleep ins I’d suggest requesting an upstairs room. The grounds of the hotel are small but relaxing .

My sister and I stayed at Harpers House for 4 nights during our 2 weeks in South Africa. We had a top floor room and have no complaints about the room. it was spacious and had everything we needed. As others wrote, it can be a bit noisy (doors shut loudly and floors can be creaky), but there are only a handful of rooms, so it more or less is first thing in the morning and not super late at night. Breakfast was lovely and you have a choice of being outside or inside. We took advantage of the nice weather and had a bottle of wine outside at night, one evening. The location was good for us and we took advantage of the grocery store next store. We ubered everywhere, and didn't stick around the area we were in, since we had plans for our entire 4 days, but I definitely felt safe and the security of getting in and out of the property, was good. We also asked HH to help is with a Driver to pick us up from the airport, as well as to recommend a half day tour guide for Boulders beach and they set us up with great drivers/tour guides. We also took advantage of their sister property, Gorgeous George, for dinner and drinks our first night. That was very fun. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it. My only con, which I shared with the hotel, is they had a candle wax burning on the first floor that was SO STRONG that was bothersome. You won't regret staying at this small boutique hotel.

Harpers House is a lovely place to stay at Cape Town. It is centrally located, there are food outlet's near by and feels safe. The house itself is comfortable, the breakfast is great. You have options from a few breakfast selections and they are all great and very generous portions. The accommodation is kept clean and the staff are very attentive to any request. Thanks to Papi, Rose, Shifo, Mcgill (I may have spelt the names all wrong!). Will stay here if I am in Cape Town again,

Excellent place to stay in Cape Town. A delightful older building, beautifully presented with very comfortable beds, great showers, lovely bathroom products… Breakfast was first rate. Staff very friendly. Easy walk to V&A or up Signal Hill. Very good restaurants a few steps away. Highly recommended.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay! The hotel is close to V&A in a lovely neighbourhood. The rooms and public areas are beautifully decorated and my bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in a hotel. The staff are wonderful - kind and attentive. Special thank you to Alice and Papi.

It is a delight to have found this gem in Cape Town! Located in a lovely area right next to the stadium which is easy to get an Uber and travel anywhere from. The staff (night porter, housekeepers, breakfast staff) are so very helpful. Breakfast is delicious! The little plunge pool is so nice for a dip after a day of exploring. Couldn’t recommend Harpers more - we've booked to stay for another 5 nights before we leave to go home!
