The whole experience at Aquila was unreal. Our check-in experience was very smooth even though we were very late and had to immediately go for our sunset safari. The buffet spreads across all meals was great overall! Staff was very friendly. The rooms were extremely spacious, clean and had great views. We were on Level 1, so we had access to a huge patio which opened up to the serene beauty of the mountains.

Heaven is a place on earth, it’s called Sanbona Wildlife reserve. What a wonderfull place to stay, staff so sweet, they answer your question even before it popped up in your own mind. The gamedrives are amazing, thank you Sian, you are the best! Beautiful Gondwana lodge, by far the BEST place I’ve ever stayed. The food so delicious. Even a bottle of champagne on the table because my husband’s birthday was 2 weeks ago!

The rooms are stunning - clean, well appointed with a full kitchenette, spacious, private, and lovely views. There are plenty of guest facilities to enjoy. We had a very relaxing stay. The hotel is unfortunately let down by the restaurants. We had a really awful dinner on the first night at Back’s, with undercooked, soggy chips and onion rings and thoroughly mediocre burgers. Breakfast at the clubhouse was great on both mornings, but not so for dinner on the second night - the food was okay, but service terribly slow despite being half full. Housekeeping staff could also use a bit of a refresher course on guest privacy. On the first evening, for turndown service, they quickly let themselves in after knocking once, which was very awkward for us - they didn’t even give us a chance to respond. On the morning we left, they were knocking down our door 45 minutes before checkout time despite the “do not disturb” sign on the door. These are just little things, but detract from what would otherwise be a five star experience.
