Hotel Canasta

Terrific experience. Tasteful clean rooms and an owner who cares for his clients. They could not be more helpful - particularly when we had to leave early to avoid weather. Will stay again.

This is a great hotel in the heart of Capri but in a nice peaceful area overlooking the sea. Great outdoor area, perfect for sunbathing while the bar serves drinks throughout the day. It is very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The owner Pietro is very hands on, keeping an eye on everything to make sure everything is well run. He is also very charming to speak to and made time to always chat to us and make us feel welcome. Thanks for a lovely stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Our hotel room was FLOODED after a thunderstorm hit the area and all of our clothes and luggage got soaked the night before check out. There are no weather stoppers or drains in place from preventing water from entering the rooms. We presented this to the owner, Piero Emilio, in a calm and collected manner, and he did not have kind words to say. He was very dismissive, inconsiderate, and used an aggressive tone against us. We then told him we typically leave reviews after our stays, and that spun him out of control. He got in both of our faces and tried to blame US for being aggressive and causing a scene, all the while there were several other hotel customers eating breakfast 5 feet away from us. The owner swiped my credit card for the FULL amount and slammed it on the counter with no words. We left the hotel immediately after. No in-room telephone, no minibar items outside of water, and no laundry services. Please look elsewhere. Do not let the location, view, or “4-star” rating fool you. The restaurant was quite literally the only plus about this hotel.

This was our seventh visit to Canasta. We love the very informal stay. We don’t have a sea view but one of the lemon trees amongst the Poppies. The staff are so lovely headed up by the non stop host Piero who runs the best restaurant, Villa Margherita. The food is sublime. We love this family so much The Reynolds

Location: good Room: we booked a seaview room but there wasn't much of a view so regret paying extra money. There is a kind of telephone? or wire hung across our room terrace so that kind of spoiled the view. See photo. The room looked like it was newly painted but the terrace has broken tiles (see photo) and cheap plastic pool chairs which spoiled the look and mood of chilling out at the terrace. I guess because this is an old house converted to a hotel, the walls are thin. One night some women spoke outside and the noise travelled into our room - loud and clear. Breakfast: the same everyday except for the breakfast cake. Not much of a choice. One family with kids were made toasted sandwiches with cheese on the toaster. The next day, I was appalled to see that the toaster was not cleaned - there were bits of bread and cheese stuck on the metal grill. Hmmm not very hygienic. Service: good and if you need anything, they come very quickly.

Awful Experience! Rude and Disrespectful Owners making dirty and outrageous comments on guests appearance. I catch him making awful comments more than once on myself and someone else. I speak fluent Italian and I understood everything he said and I could believe what I was hearing… I was embarrassed for him and I had to cancel the other half of my stay. Over the years I stayed in hundreds of hotels regardless of the star rating and never ever witnessed something like that.. unacceptable behavior. The room. Small, outdated furniture, holes on the walls, uncomfortable mattresses, non working televisions, moldy smell’s. The grounds. Small pool, kids running around diving, no drink service, no lifeguard, cracking deck noise, good view, restaurant staff yelling at each other. Breakfast. The pictures are self explanatory 🤮I noticed the staff buying pastries from a bakery across the street.. and for the guests frozen ones, uncooked raw bacon, indescribable scrambled eggs and the cheapest quality cereal you can find. The quality of coffee and espresso is comparable to instant coffee similar to the one you drink onboard of a plane. The Staff. They hate their job with no training towards making you feel welcome. Location. Little distant from the center but I didn’t mind the hike, walking and the stairs. Additional no Gym, no Spa. Guess what? the owner is there for breakfast every morning watching everyone enjoying his unpleasant behavior. Have fun at Canasta!
