Carbis Bay and Spa Hotel

The room is different than you describe online. Services are really poor, staff attitudes were so bad for any hospitality standards. I rarely gave negative comments towards hotel booking, but I am really unhappy this time.

My two night stay got off to a bad start when the blonde, bejewelled receptionist (Jamie-Lee) welcomed my arrival with all the warmth and courtesy that is better suited to the prison service than an upmarket hotel. Having immediately demanded various card payments her froideur was maintained as she completed the check in process in her brusque, perfunctory manner. Perhaps Jamie-Lee feels the important job of hotel receptionist (and restaurant server) is beneath her? Everything improved from that moment onwards. The room had a wonderful Bay view, restaurant facilities are numerous and varied, the spa and pool area is popular without being overcrowded and the other staff members are friendly, helpful and very competent (in stark contrast to Jamie-Lee).

Typical “We will do what we want attitude from these disrespectful muppets “ Can't believe it but Carbis Bay Hotel have submitted another application to retain the concrete structures and fencing 😡How many more times are the Council going to consider an application when the Enforcement Notice has still not been carried out. All this inspite of the fact that at the meeting for the last application it was highlighted how dangerous leaving these structures in place would be in light of eventual natural cliff erosion. Why won't the Council carry out their powers to undertake the work and bill the applicant under the Enforcement? Absolute mockery of the planning system. Application number PA25/01226

We have just returned from the most wonderful restorative visit to Carbis Bay Estate. On arriving at the hotel we were warmly welcomed and given a tour of the hotel and spa before being shown to our room. Unfortunately our room wasn’t what we had booked and the instant response from all the staff was amazing in making sure that we were happy with an alternative option. We were so lucky and thankful to be upgraded to a most spectacular beach lodge. The position of the lodge directly on the beach is stunning with uninterrupted views across the bay. Listening to the waves as you fall asleep is so relaxing! The lodge was beautifully designed and decorated with everything you could possibly need. Everything was spotlessly clean. The private hot tub on the terrace was fabulous and we really enjoyed sitting in it as the wind howled around us and the rain fell, watching the herring gulls circle above us and listening to the waves crash onto the beach. Breakfast was either served in the hotel or a continental hamper bought to the room…we did one of each and both were delicious and plentiful! There are several restaurants to choose from and a cocktail bar and the ones we chose were all delicious! The spa facilities were amazing with the heated outdoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi available to use throughout the day. All the staff were always friendly and attentive and helped to make our mini break so special! I have never written a review before but felt compelled to share what a wonderful experience we had! We absolutely will return to visit again!

Had an amazing 4 day break at the Carbis bay hotel . Excellent Service. Staff went out of there way to accommodate us. Nothing was too much trouble. We weren't easy guests. On arrival there was a problem with our room with very strong drainage odours, however, James (one of the duty managers) couldn't apologise enough, despite it not being the fault of the staff. He promptly found 2 rooms to show us for us to choose from at no additional cost. We opted for the Beach junior suite which was amazing. My mother found the bathroom in her room a bit small only because of her mobility issues and Lesley (a manager) spoke with her in length and offered options. My mother opted for a Beach junior suite which she enjoyed very much. She was only able to have it for 2 nights, however was very grateful and took full advantage of it. The only gripe, which could be dealt with on arrival, is Housekeeping knocking early to service the rooms. You can always ask reception to notify them that you require a later Service. We wanted things in our rooms that weren't standard. For example: a chair in the shower for my mum. A fridge in the beach junior suite.(these suites have communal facilities, so a fridge in the room would not normally be possible). This was sorted out for us promptly. I rang reception a few times to ask questions and they were answered politely and professionally. We were even provided with a reserved car parking space, that has never been provided at any hotel we have stayed in previously. We ate in the Beach Club restaurant, The Gannet restaurant and the deli. The food was amazing in all. The best fish & chips I have ever had in my life in the Gannet. The views from the Beach suite were amazing. Normally I'm not an easy riser in the morning, but hearing the sound of the waves drew me up, out of bed and on to the balcony. Overall, we were delighted with everyone especially James, Lesley and Emma , who went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing stay. Were very polite, professional and welcoming. We can't wait to get back! Although I'm sure they're enjoying the peace and quiet since we left! Highly recommend. There really is no other place to go!! Thank you again xx
