This was my second visit to the Cosmic Crab and I look forward to going back now that the pool is open! I have been going to the mosaic workshops and have found a new hobby and friends in Bocas. The food is fantastic. It is so cool to watch a boat pull up with a bucket full of the days catch and then find it on the menu that night.

Cosmic Crab is a magical place! I don’t know even where to begin. Let’s start with the food, a twist of comfort and local, fresh, hot and delicious. Not to mention the breakfast buffet 🤩 Cabins on the water in the jungle, air conditioned or sea breeze, hot water, clean fresh towels always!!!! Swimming, well. Safe ocean plunge pool for snorkeling. Or swim up bar pool to chill and float. Dining area, cool sea breeze, wrap around bar. A quick water taxi to town or a stroll around the island takes 2 hours. Joan, Steven and Jesse are gems. There for your every need. Don’t forget to check out their store for gifts or just to browse their amazing collection of beautiful creations. Live music, craft classes perfect for everyone. Oh and a slide into the ocean. DONT MISS THIS PLACE 🫶🐠🫶🐠🫶🐠🫶🐠🫶🐠🫶🐠🫶🐠

My boyfriend and I just stayed at this place for about 4 nights. I stayed here a couple years ago and they have made great improvements to their resort. There is now a swim up bar, which my boyfriend and I throughly enjoyed and the service was excellent. Joan was very welcoming when we first got to the resort and continued to make sure we were okay through out our stay. I like this place because it is on its own little island and it is very peaceful. However, I will say that the water pressure for the shower in our room wasn’t the greatest and our a/c wasn’t as cool as we liked however it did the job. One other thing i would critique on is leaving the toilet seat closed. When we went into our room, it had a smell and we found out it was coming from the toilet seat being up. However, our experience overall was great. Staff was great, drinks were great, and food was great.

Fabulous location, right on the water. Hosts were so welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the overwater rooms which were quite small and could use some TLC. The other rooms that we saw were excellent. The new swimming pool with poolbar and water views was a welcome place to relax. Joan and her staff were without exception so kind and accomodating and offered excellent local advice. Great restaurant and amazing cocktails. We took a four island boat tour (water taxi picked us up right at the property) which we thoroughly recommend, and the walk around Carenaro Island was fab with local eateries and stunning beaches. We very much enjoyed massage services on site! Bocas Town is a $1 water taxi away for later night fun.

We had a lovely stay at this unique hotel in Bocas during our journey trough Panama. Due to the demonstrations inside Panama, the hotel was empty during our stay, but we got more time to talk to the owners and they are lovely people who were so welcoming towards us. Having the hotel and the beautifull restaurant to ourselves was a funny situation, but sad of course for everyone who had to cancel their stays. The Cosmic Crab is such a Nice little pearl, we would love to go back one day and see it as it is supposed to be; full of people and life.

Me and a few friends decided to dine here during our weekend stay in Bocas only because someone recommended it. We are expats living in or near Panama City and some of us are retired, therefore we have our visas and we qualify for the senior jubilado discount. However, after telling the waiter that we would like to use our discount the owner comes out and basically tried to discourage us from using it by saying she's a small business among some other excuses. She stood there for almost 5 minutes repeatedly trying to discourage us. To make matters worst, she included the tip without our knowledge or approval. The food was way over priced and not good. Those that had the fish said it wasn't fresh, and that it was frozen. I will never go back there nor would I recommend it.

Excellent location, wonderful host, comfortable cottage and beds. Airconditioned. Just a $1 water taxi ride from the hustle and bustle of Bocas Town, The Cosmic Crab is a better option if you are looking for tranquility. A short hike through the jungle takes you to the beach on the other side of the Island, where the waters gently lap the sand! Breakfast at Cosmic Crab was delicious. Joan, our hostess, made sure we were comfortable and was extremely helpful and made super margaritas as well!

The scenery is beautiful, the location ideal. The restaurant is closed Mon-Thursday. The owners asked for us to conserve water which we had no problem trying to do. Upon using the shower for the first time, there was water streaming out the side of the shower head and little to nothing onto the person in the shower. We mentioned to the owner the issue and they said they would get right to it. 3 days later when we left, nothing had changed. A shower head is an easy and cheap fix; not sure why they didn’t follow through, especially with their “fresh water” concerns. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable, the AC worked and the space was clean. The front porch had some broke boards/rot. Again, for the price you can’t expect “resort”, but it would seem there is a general lack of desire to keep up with maintenance. For what it’s worth, I’d return, but it’s good to know what to expect. Next time I’ll bring a new shower head and install it myself 😉.
