Dimora Cottanera

One of our most enjoyable stay during our 12 days trip around Sicily. Upon landing at Catania airport, we drove all the way to Dimora Cottanera, arriving after dark. Stayed here for three nights and weren’t bored. Excellent ambience, great views, good amenities, nice and strong hot water, very comfortable beds, very good breakfast. The infinity pool was too cold in November, but we did enjoy the sauna and the outdoor bath. Credits to Serena who was really nice and helpful. She arranged our Mt Etna trip and wine tasting.

Very nice place

Stayed just one night as part of a Wine tourism trip so did not get the chance to fully experience the place. I was fortunate to stay in the recently opened Villa Penthouse which was magnificent but from what I saw the other rooms are lovely. There is a gym, spa and separate swimming pool with wonderful views. Breakfast was very good and staff extremely friendly and helpful. One drawback is noonsife restaurant and you need to drive around ten minutes. It is possible though to have tastings and food at the Cottanera winery opposite. From what I saw I would certainly recommend this place and it would work well for small groups too.

The property has potential and the staff is trying hard but they are still at the very beginning: the first night the door was locked when we came back from a restaurant, no way in, it was 11 pm, dark and cold and we called the reception. After the sixth call we reached someone. Nice guy, said he will try to solve the problem and if he can’t he could come to the property in 15 minutes. Finally, after approx. 30 min my knocking at the door was heard by a hotel guest who left us in. Apologies followed next day and staff was very polite and actively approached us to apologize for that issue. The second night, we thought things would become good now, the next issues: worms between 2 and 5 cms in the room, on the floor and on the walls. We evacuated 15 of them. Not enough? When we came home in the evening, no water in the room. water pump defect, no water (I mean no water at all on the whole property) until next morning. OMG. Problem was solved the next morning at 8 am. Hotel offered drinks and aperetivo for free. The third night: when we arrest the hotel after visiting Taormina, it was 7 pm or so, we parked our car at the (not yet ready built) parking area and noticed that a car (it turned out to be the owner‘s car) was blocking the stairways that one had to use when leaving the parking lot. Trying to pass the car, I misstepped and hurt my ankle so that we could not visit the etna the next day. Again staff was very sorry and very concerned the next day but the owners were not available for a discussion. Finally we were offered one free night out of four for all the trouble. This is all very disappointing and the hotel has some potential but I am afraid they are not yet there. With the present owners, which are not present at the property, they may never get there.

Perfect. The setting in the middle of a vineyard is so beautiful, and the rooms are modern and luxurious. We got a free upgrade to a room with an amazing view and couldn’t be happier. The staff were very kind and accommodating, and were very helpful with great restaurant suggestions only 10 minutes drive away. We stayed for two nights but wish we had stayed for more. This is one of our favorite stays in all of Sicily.

We stayed for 2 nights at this wonderful resort. The property was stunning, so peaceful and relaxing. The entire staff was amazing and accommodating to all our needs. We also had massages by Concetta, would highly recommend. With the winery across the street it is the perfect location.
