We stayed elsewhere but chose Dragons Peak to do a family horse ride. It was most enjoyable! Lwazi our guide was softly spoken and treated all the horses in a gentle manner. It's impressive that one doesn't ride with a 'bit' and the horses still obey. Lwazi made us feel safe at all times. Would definitely recommend. Nikki

Booked a 3 bedroom Thatch Cottage with 3 en-suite bathrooms, a living room fireplace & a patio with a view of the lake (cottages 7/8/9). Or so I thought... On arrival was given a 3 bedroom Thatch Cottage with 1 bathroom (for 6), NO living room fireplace (or heater) & 1 small fan heater to share between 2 of the bedrooms! Oh & no lake view but a lovely view of the generator! Reception's explanation... the cottage/s I had booked were fully booked & only this cottage (6) was available. This of course was not explained in their actual booking confirmation communication or else I would have simply cancelled this booking. Reception went onto further explain that a possibility would have been to have me stay a night in each of the cottages I had actually requested, as there was a night available for each of them... Although this would have been MOST inconvenient to the family I was willing to forego that for the extra bathrooms. However, "this would upset the Housekeeping department as they were on skeleton staff as most were on leave"!!! I asked why in school holidays (peak season) were they on skeleton staff???? Apparently bookings were initially quiet but surprisingly picked up after promotions. Is this not the point of promotions?? So they would rather not risk the wrath of their Housekeeping dept & rather leave me with Cottage 6. Further to this the facilities are in a poorly maintained state. Swimming pool green with geese enjoying them instead. Volley ball net torn & hanging nearly on the ground. Watched someone slowly sink in their paddle boat as it had a hole in it. Jungle gym cordoned off & labelled as Out Of Order. PROS - Loved the Central Berg location, Daily Housekeeping & Scullery Service. CONS- In addition to the above paragraph related to Reservation/Reception dept, tripping stove & bath plumbing (tap would randomly stop filling), no cupboards in loft bedroom (chest of drawers), only 4 bar stools & a 4 seater lounge suit ( in a 6 sleeper cottage) Overall the resort had an air of a place that was once a wonderful family destination....many years ago!

We stayed in Park House, which was simply awesome. This house catered for all our families needs, with comfortable beds, including each bedroom having an ensuite bathroom. Kitchen is well equipped, great living area, even with a bar! Log fire. Tv with lots of channels to choose from. Restaurant has awesome meals that are well priced and has many options. Bar is friendly and inviting. Games room is fun for young and old. Great family friendly and adult friendly venue with so much to do around the resort and its surrounds.

Has a great horse riding experience, especially as a bunch of first timers..The horse have insanely funny names, very memorable. Tokoloshi was an absolutely sweet girl to ride, really great for a nervous first timer and Lady Jumima just wanted to go for a swim, hilarious

The bed was caving in. The toilet keeps running. The shower keeps dripping the entire night. To turn the hot water off, you need to be a body builder. Fix the faucet. The TV worked for 3 hours and didn't work again for the rest of our stay. Please ask customers if they want a maid to come in as to not be intrusive of space. There are customers who prefer no interruptions to their stay! I am not being difficult, but these are simple quality of life improvements which must be rectified. Also, where we stayed we were not informed that we were not getting a veranda. The empty units next to us all had verandas. Please inform your customers of these little changes to their units as these make a big difference at the end of the day!

We stayed at Dragon Peaks many years ago and enjoyed the stay, sadly this time around it was a different story. We booked a campsite close to the play area and ablutions. When we arrived, we were informed that the ablutions geyser burst and that we had to use the ablution block furthermost from our camp, when we inquired about the other block closer to us, they said that the geysers are switch off during low seasons. The drain at our campsite was blocked with fat and covered in flies, we reported it but it was never cleaned, my husband eventually got it open with a stick. Staff on the property was very loud, shouting at each other at 6am in the morning and branches were cut up by chain saw on Sunday morning before 7am, other places in the camp the maintenance men were busy installing roof plates making a hell of a racket. The lawns were mowed beautifully and the bathrooms were clean, but everything else seems to be lacking attention. No lights or hot water during load shedding. Weeds are hip high in the gardens, the pool pump was uncovered next to the pool, a hosepipe with a trickle of water was used on the slide, not enough to slide with. Dogs were around and in the pool, although the signs said no dogs around the pool. The birds in the aviary seem to be stressed and the aviary not well maintained, used as a garden tool shed. The walking paths were being cut open while we were there, but most impassable with chest high grass and weeds. At R350 per person per night, for the 7 of us, was a very expensive weekend for sub standard service and a lacks attitude. We will certainly never return.
