Oh wow! Lovely old mill converted to a luxury hotel (and yes, the water wheel is still there, but not in use). Comfortable en suite bedrooms. VERY good quality meals (breakfast and evening). Staff were truly excellent, nothing we asked was too much bother for them and they were really friendly chatty and nice to us. Restaurant staff kept a close eye on what was going on and were very quickly at your table after you had finished each course.

The hotel was just lovely and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious and a lot of choice. Dinner was very relaxed and the food was stunning in presentation and delectable. My room was well appointed, with a doggy welcome box of goodies for my pooch. A lovely warm bathroom. Being woken in the morning to the cacophony of bird song, priceless. All staff were polite and lovely. I just can't fault my stay. I am planning to come back in May for a few days weather permitting, to celebrate a big birthday. I felt rested and energised after my stay. The perfect place to explore beautiful Dartmoor.

Ruffles and I stayed at this beautiful hotel at the beginning of March. We had THE very best holiday here. The room was just perfect. Comfy bed, for me and one for Ruffles. A special gift of homemade biscuits for me and a box of goodies for Ruffles. We were also lucky to have a ground floor room which opened up directly onto the garden and our own sitting area. Somewhere to paint and relax for me and somewhere to explore and play for Ruffles. The weather couldn’t have been better and we went on the walks which are accessible directly from the hotel, no need for travel on this occasion which was just what I needed. Back to the boot room for a clean up - Ruffles, not me - towels and treats, even poo bags provided for those of us who hadn’t packed enough. Dinner on all three evenings was perfect, lovely choices which changed daily and were superb. We dined together in the special doggy dining room with other dogs and their owners and made some lovely friends. You can have pre dinner drinks in the lounge too. Breakfast was just as good, great choices once again and fabulous quality. Even Ruffles had his own treat and once that was devoured we would go to the doggy field, all fenced off and secure, to have a play with the ball. I can’t express enough how wonderful the staff were from my booking experience right through to arrival and departure. Every member of staff were so very friendly, loved Ruffles and were so very kind. Even Paul, the gardener who appears once a week was chatty and absolutely lovely. I can’t wait to return - we can’t wait to return as Ruffles had just as fabulous a time as I did. Thank you everyone for making our stay such a happy one xx

Went to celebrate birthday and New Year. The food was at all times excellent and the New Year special 7-course taster menu was exceptional! All staff knowledgable and friendly. This hotel based in an old water mill has many comfortable rooms with quirky corridors so expect the unexpected!

What an amazingly beautiful place to stay. I was stunned by the history, place, mill, people, services, restaurant and other people visiting to stay. Everyone was so helpful and went beyond what you expect in five star hotels in central London. I will be staying here for business and please and thank you so much for having me All the best Graham

We stayed at this hotel several times some years ago under a previous ownership and always enjoyed our stays. We thought we would visit again as we like the area, which is very beautiful. We stayed for 3 nights at the end of April this year. The hotel is in many ways recognisable from what I remember, but has more rooms in use for guests, so it is a larger business now (though still small by national standards) not quite as cosy as it once was. We had an upstairs (I would say attic) room which was clean and comfortable. The water pressure in the shower room hand basin was low, but not really a major problem, the shower was fine, except for the last day when it was also a little on the low side. Probably because the hotel was fully booked, the weather hot, and everyone was using the facilities at the same time. The room only had one upholstered chair, which I feel when two people are staying, is not ideal (there was easily room for another). The staff were excellent, always friendly and cheerful. The food was very good, with four choices of starter, main and desert available for dinner. These did vary slightly each day, apart from the desert which was always the same four choices (which was a bit disappointing). Dinner was very relaxed with plenty of time between courses, which was nice. The breakfast was also very good with a wide choice to suit most tastes. There was just one thing that was a surprise, and that was that there was a service charge added to the bill for the meals, as we had booked three nights bed, breakfast and dinner, and had been given a price. It was a little unexpected. Most country house hotels we have used elsewhere had never done that. I would expect to pay a service charge if I had simply booked a meal there and not a package. However, as we were assured that the service charge was going to the staff, and they were excellent we paid it. However, I think this is something that should be made clearer in the booking process. I certainly did not notice anything mentioning this. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

Our 3rd visit in 5 months was for a very good reason; and it's because Mill End is a really nice, chilled place with great food, great staff and great location. Oh, did I mention the food ? Yep, really nice. We will definately go back again, probably later in the year or if a special offer apprears in my inbox. All staff at Mill End are the best, even the ones hidden away !

We picked the Mill End Hotel for a few days purely by chance after a last minute decision to visit Devon. Well what a pick - spotlessly clean, friendly staff and super comfortable. A jewel of a hotel with sparkling touches like a wonderful dining experience. Delicious breakfasts and stunning location. Can’t recommend enough and we will definitely be back.
