The worst hotel I've stayed in in France for a very long time. Ground floor rooms not soundproofed (old windows and 19th century wooden shutters), no sleep all night + persistent smell of oil-based paint from the bathroom + lousy 140cm bedding, sheets and blankets like in the old days, thin pillows and bolster without a case, postage stamp sized TV, non-functional radiators. The hotel itself, although a beautiful original building, is very very dilapidated, wallpaper, carpet, woodwork and glass roof ruined, bedroom and lounge furniture worthy of Emmaüs, of course no kettle anywhere, no possibility of drinking tea or herbal tea. After (big) discussion with the hotelier in the morning: it's the fault of the owner of the building, she doesn't want to invest, boo boo, and I for my part I'm not doing anything either, why do it? I know that my rooms and my service are rubbish, and that most of my customers are unhappy, but come on, there aren't many hotels in Chalon, so they're guaranteed to be full, and I'm not going to invest a few years before retirement, eh! In short: run away from this place, it's rubbish, hypocritical and stupid on every level!!!!
