I recommend this hotel in Chamonix, the Grande, which is right on the river in the center of the town and a few minutes' walk from the cable car station. But the reason why I recommend it is not the location, but the rare hotel with good hardware conditions and such decent and attentive service. Because the hotel is in the center, many streets in Chamonix are restricted to cars from 10:30-6:00, and many sections are narrow and one-way. I called the hotel yesterday after detouring a few times to no avail. The service staff was very clear. He gave me the GPS coordinates, guided me all the way to the hotel's private parking lot, and asked the staff to pick me up. After arriving, they gave me a very considerate introduction and chatted. When asked if I wanted to book a delicious local dinner, I said, no need, I want to control my weight... The lady at the front desk humorously laughed at herself and said, oh, why don't you want us? French women are the same, missing out on so much delicious food! When I checked in, I was asked where I was from? Let’s just say Beijing is a big city, but we only have 10,000 people... He knew I was going to the SPA after my break, and he thoughtfully drew a map for me and asked me to go back to my room to rest and change clothes. And this morning, when the hotel service staff brought me the cooked omelette and coffee, and looked at the plate arrangement and latte art, this was truly the most sincere breakfast buffet I have ever had. I felt like I was being treated with comfort and care every minute. , this kind of service is the best experience! The decoration style of the hotel is also old-fashioned, which I like, but it is also bright and dry, and has a beautiful terrace with a view of the snow-capped mountains.

I’m beginning this with a disclaimer that we booked this through Amex Travel. In France; it seems it shows up as being booked through *******. Any seasoned traveler knows this can mean difficulty in your travel due to their policies. We had a very difficult time finding this hotel when we were driving in. I don’t think we received the initial email that the hotel sends prior to arrival due to booking through Amex travel. We called and it took quite some time, but we finally found the little sign and the parking garage. Francesca did everything in her power to ensure we found the hotel including walking out in the cold and guiding us into the garage as she learned we were trying to be on time for a massage appointment. She quickly had someone gather our luggage and whisked us away to tell us all the important notes. Throughout our stay, she did our best to address the adversity we faced. The room was beautiful and the hotel is truly in the center of town near all restaurants. This seems good until you had an experience like we had. We returned to our room around 10pm and planned to have a restful night to be ready for our paragliding the next day. This was FAR from what happened. Being in the center of town means hearing ALL the people leave the bars. I initially called the reception around 12:15pm to ask if this was normal. The reception explained it was Thursday night, so this usually calmed down around 1:00am and he apologized. I again called at 2:00am because the noise CONTINUED and the reception said the police didn’t come and there was nothing that could be done about the noise. The last screen shot I took on my phone to properly notate how late it was that we couldn’t fall asleep due to noise was 3:15am. The next morning, we slept too late to have breakfast (again getting around 6 hours of sleep). The reception listened to our concerns but told us there was nothing they could do, they couldn’t move us as the hotel was fully booked. We were provided a set of earplugs and wished good luck for the coming night. Moving on to the second night, the noise wasn’t quite as bad but still loud. We stayed in Paris and it wasn’t as loud as it was in Chamonix. Essentially we were comped our parking fee and 2 beers. Truthfully, this doesn’t compensate for not resting 2 nights in a row in a 5 star hotel. This was THE hotel I was excited about for our trip. This was THE hotel I splurged on. This was THE place I was the most excited about for our trip and it turned out to be the worst stay. I am not an old person just being ornery. I am 29 years old, so when I say it was loud, I know I’m not exaggerating. If you want to REST during your stay, pick another location to stay at for $500/night or either require that they reserve your room for the river side of the hotel and it will hopefully be more quiet. When we return to Chamonix, we won’t stay here.

Where to begin other than we had a fabulous stay here. That was because the stay was incredibly helpful and friendly. We planned a ski holiday, which worked out since there is a sport shop across the street where you can rent your equipment. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't totally cooperative and we found ourselves doing other things, such as a trip to Courmayeur in Italy. The staff were helpful in arranging that trip. The hotel itself is fabulous. It's located in the centre of Chamonix. Our room had a great view of the mountains and L'Arve, the river that flows through Chamonix. Our daughters had a very nice room next to ours. Hint for skiiers. There is a stairway next to the BNP Paribas where you can access the ski equipment room. Also, there is an alley next to Cheverny and across from Swarovski that will get you to the bus stop for the shuttles to the Ski areas. Also, giver Génépi a try. It's the local liqueur and they have it in the lounge. Nothing like sipping that in the evening after a day on the pistes.

The hotel is conveniently located near shops and restaurants, and walking distance to the tram. The staff was amazing in every way. They were attentive, friendly, helpful, even ordering flowers and champagne for my birthday and arranging a car for transportation upon our departure.

Very happy! We stayed for just two nights in March 2025, on a quick stopover between big-city destinations. We had been to Chamonix previously in the summer, and were keen to see it during the snow season. The hotel is in a great location, in the hub of the dining and retail parts of the town, and within easy (albeit uphill in the case of the Brevent lift) walk of both the town's cable car stations. We had a Mont Blanc room, which had a balcony looking out over the Arve river and a sensational view of the mountains. Staff were very friendly, multi-lingual and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

We started our 12 day French Alps trip in Chamonix at this lovely hotel. The location is ideal for anything you want to do in the area. What stands out is the amazing front desk staff - each of them was more like a top notch concierge. They got to know is and helped craft some very unique experiences that we would have never figured out on our own.
