Castle Villas at Bluebeards

Looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. They made us wait extra hours for our room just for us to get to it and it was disgusting. They did NOT clean there was other guests hair on the shower wall. Customer service was also bad. Sorry excuse for a hotel

I wish I could post videos because the views are breathtaking, while the units are spacious & nicely updated. We will be back with friends.

We went here because it was the site of our honeymoon 50+ years ago. At that time it was a top hotel in St. Thomas. Since then storm damage, reconstruction and new ownership has changed almost all of the facilities and it is now a time share marketed as a “resort” on 2 different websites and also by time share owners in various other places such as Airbnb. The beautiful hillside site overlooking the harbor is still the same but time share places have a different vibe than “resorts”. But the pricing was reasonable for what is offered If you have any mobility issues be very careful about selecting a room here. Some are ADA accessible - ours certainly wasn’t: from the nearest road it was 47 steps down to the room and then 47 steps back to the road. NO elevator! There is free golf cart shuttle service to the rooms but for this building there were then the 47 steps! The swimming pool water was an odd slightly milky color although the nearby hot tub was crystal clear. The restaurant is independent so you can’t charge meals and drinks. The day we arrived there was a water system problem for the restaurant so they didn’t offer tap water - although other parts of the hotel had working water. Attentive management would have gotten water from adjacent building but the restaurant saw this as opportunity to push bottled water! “Convenience Store” frequently ran out of basic products such as eggs and laundry detergent. Note that due to hilltop location nothing is convenient with it a car, taxi, or steep hill Consider these points before reserving here Aa

We found this property and our room to be lovely and very comfortable, however I can't give this more than a 2 star rating because of the petty theft and poor customer service. We were there for 2 weeks, and when housekeeping came through to clean the room half way through they left with one of my purple colored, compression, running socks. I know this because I wore the socks to the gym that morning, left them in the room next to my tennis shoes by my bedroom door, and then went off to the beach wearing flip flops (no socks). When we got back later that day after housekeeping had been there, I had only one sock next to my shoes. I searched the room, it never turned up anywhere. I am certain this was unintentional and got swept up when they were taking towels, sheets, etc. out of the room so I informed the front desk so that they could find it in the laundry and return. It is bright purple - hard to miss. They did not apologize and they did not resolve the issue. After speaking with the manager she only insisted that housekeeping did not take my sock - essentially telling me I was lying. She did not offer to compensate me for the sock being taken or offer any condolence. The next day we had a chocolate bar taken from the counter of our room. The chocolate bar was taken out of the fridge to allow the caramel to melt before eating and set on the counter at 9am, by 11:30am we came back to the room and the chocolate bar was gone. No one should have been in our room at that point, but after following up with the manager she stated that housekeeping staff had come into the room thinking we were checked out. Even after admitting that housekeeping had been in the room when they shouldn't have, she again offered no apology, no compensation, and no resolution. A chocolate bar is a very small thing to worry about, but having hotel staff coming and going from your room when they shouldn't be there and helping themselves to your belongings is a very uncomfortable and unsafe feeling. Aside from the petty theft, we had an alarm outside the door of our room that went off every day that we were there. It would go off at different times of day and sometimes overnight. Each time I had to call the desk to ask them to fix the issue and the first couple of times it was resolved quickly. Other times it went on for hours. The worst was the couple of times that beeping continued through the night keeping us awake, as it was audible from he bedroom.

Average. Clean. Very few amenities but nice. The standout for us was the coldness of the staff. They appeared overworked and their manner was not nice or pleasant. Across most of the staff. Very little enthusiasm for customer service. The hotel was unwilling to make any accommodations beyond the standard room and coffee A nice but worn location. If you would like any kind of personal attention or help, this is not your location.

We have stayed at Bluebeards about 5 times. I love everything about it. It is becoming home away from home. The views from our balcony to easy access to beaches. We will be back and appreciate the staff. I love to snorkel and my husband likes to just be. It works for both of us.
