Lovely pub downstairs. With restaurant and large outdoor area. Our room was a good size and a large modern en-suite. The breakfast was very good. We had a large full English.

We held a small family function at the Kings arms in November and the experience could not have been better. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble. The staff helped us with decorating the space for the party and during the afternoon and evening event they were always there, ready to help. We stayed overnight and the rooms were clean and stylish. Plenty of hot water in the shower too. Next morning, some people departed but most stayed for an excellent breakfast. Another great experience. I cannot recommend this wonderful gastro pub and hotel more highly. A truly wonderful experience. Thank you, Tony and your lovely staff !

We chose this hotel as we were visiting Stourhead. Upon arrival we parked in the ample car park and upon entering the hotel we were greeted warmly, how things worked was explained and we were shown to our rooms. We chose from the evening menu and enjoyed a couple of drinks. The table service was exemplary, the food was piping hot, generously proportioned and extremely tasty. The BBQ spare ribs are highly recommended. The added bonus was that the pricing was very competitive. After a lovely evening we went to our room. The room was very comfortable, immaculately clean and warm. The bathroom was modern, well designed clean and in very good condition. To top things off the bed was very comfortable too. In the morning we enjoyed a really good breakfast, with once again exemplary service. All in all a very pleasant stay and one that we would be happy to repeat.

We really enjoyed our stay (3 nights) at the Barn in the gardens of this hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect, with glorious hillside/meadow views on both sides. It is situated in a village with a village shop next door (good for produce, well selected groceries and beverages, coffees and locally made cakes (including gluten free). We will use this as a base for a holiday but also for short stays - it is conveniently located near picturesque local towns that merit visiting but we enjoyed knowing that we could retreat to the hotel for relaxation at the end of each day. There were four circular walking routes in the vicinity (leaflets available at the bar) but we didn't have a chance to explore them this time. The Hotel is charming with nicely decorated and air rooms. The Barn has its own private decked area with ample chairs to relax in. The Barn is spacious and has a well equipped and large kitchen. The bar and restaurant area (indoors) are bright and welcoming - and so are the staff and owners, who were happy to help in any way. There is a small snug to relax in (log burner for the cooler months) and a large grassed garden with views over a meadow and valley and lots of seating (both under cover and without cover). The menu is varied and the food of good quality (we enjoyed breakfast and dinner). We consider this a real find and a great place to relax.

Recently stayed for a night with friends on a visit to Wincanton races. I would highly recommend a meal and/or stay as it was amongst the best meals I have had, the service and attention was excellent at all times and the accommodation and setting are both lovely. I hope to return in the not too distant future.

I called in at 9.45 pm earlier this week to be simply turned away. No meet and greet , no good evening , no hello how are you , just told by the person behind the bar "we are closed ". I had already checked their website which quite clearly stated open until 11.00 pm. Hospitality at it's worse.

I’m not one to usually leave reviews on places however I must say our first visit to The kings Arms on Thursday was great. We are new to Sherborne and had been recommended here by a friend, we were greeted with smiles and a lovely welcome. I can’t for the life of me remember the young girls name but she was great. she recommended the steak and beef burger to us and it was one of the best dishes me and my wife have had for a long time. Hands off the chefs they did an amazing job. Overall our experience was 11/10 and certainly will be back.
