My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Inn and exploring the island. First of all, we ate all our meals there and each one was a 10 out of 10. Not one bite disappointed. I highly recommend the monkfish schnitzel topped with lobster entree, but everything from salad to desert was incredible. The only exception was the coffee in the morning. Really needs improvement. There is a 9 hole golf course (unaffiliated with the Inn) out front which is very fun to play. Rooms are small with nice linens, and beautiful breezes off the bay. The large wraparound porch is a great place to have a drink, read, or stare at the view or sunset. lobby and sitting room are cozy too. This is a non pretentious 100+ year old hotel with old school charm.

We stayed when you could see daylight between the wall boards. The Inn has gone through many iterations, but has recently featured fine dining. It is fun to have a drink on the porch overlooking the stone pier and the bay beyond.

A lovely relaxing Inn with large comfortable porches, comfy furniture and a view of Casco Bay.. The inn keepers are very thoughtful.. We missed our return boat and had to spend the afternoon in this perfect enviroment. The only time that I saw our cell phones was to take pictures. We left a camera on the island and they arranged for it to be picked up. We are 3 school pals now in our 80's and look forward to spending more time the Inn next year !

This is a review for their dining room (restaurant). The experience and food was a disaster from start to finish. My husband and I are quite familiar with the island and the inn and we were exceptionally disappointed. We had a reservation to celebrate a special occasion. The appetizer and entree came out at the same time. The lukewarm “chowder” was horrible - too sour from perhaps fennel ? and way too much fresh dill. And, the watery broth was confusing. The “fish cake” ? - we live in New England - was inedible with the “comeback” sauce, as was my husband’s burger. Our cocktails finally arrived after we asked twice, after our meal arrived, and were not actual cocktails - we mentioned this twice to our waiter to no avail. We will never return. Good luck to them with their wedding business - but for locals- we left our food on our plates and received no acknowledgment of our concerns from our waiter. At over $120 for lunch - this place has truly turned into a tourist trap.

My husband and I recently had the most lovely 1-night stay at Chebeague Island Inn. Getting there is half the fun, as you have to take a ferry to the island (it's a very scenic ride), and the hotel has a shuttle that picks you up right from the ferry dock (super convenient). Check in was easy, and our room was just right, with the gentle ocean breezes wafting through our window. My favorite spot on the property was the veranda that wraps around the main floor -- it's a very popular hangout spot, with lots of cozy seating overlooking Casco Bay. I spent hours here on a lazy Monday afternoon, taking in the views while enjoying a couple of tasty libations and making new friends. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant that evening as well, and the food was so delicious (get the Peekytoe Crab Toast). Then back to the veranda to enjoy a spectacular sunset. The next morning before checking out, we borrowed a couple of the inn's bikes (complimentary for all guests) and tooled around the island a bit, exploring. My only regret is that I wish we could have stayed longer!

I unfortunately had high expectations of our over $400.00 one-night stay at the Inn and those expectations were not met. They did have a shuttle meet us at the dock once we got off the ferry to drive us up to the Inn. Our room was ready prior to check in time so that was nice. Since their website touts so many activities, I expected to get a map of the property or some direction as to what to do during our stay but that didn't happen. We ate lunch and dinner on the porch which was very nice - the food is outstanding. We could see the shoreline from the porch of the inn and wanted to check it out. However you can't walk to the beach from the Inn as you would have to cross a golf course. So, we followed the road back to the where the ferry arrived but again, no access. Since the website advertises a beach, I thought, they must have a way to get there. When we inquired about how to get to the beach - is there a path that leads there, etc,. we were told no. The person at the front desk didn't seem to have answers for most of the questions we asked relative to what there was to do at the Inn. The 'lawn games' was literally a game of corn hole. So, we decided to get a bottle of wine to share and sit on the porch. The first two bottles I picked were out of stock. The bar tender seemed less than thrilled to try and find a third. Sitting on the porch and drinking the wine was nice - there were several other people out there as well. However, no one from the Inn ever came out to check on any of the guests to see if they needed anything. The lack of service was surprising given how expensive it cost to stay for one night. I did see the bartender sitting in one of the common rooms (maybe the great room?) of the Inn on his phone - I assumed he was on a break. We needed to leave early the next morning, on the 630am ferry. We asked the person at the front desk about this and what time we should be in the lobby for the shuttle down to the dock. Her answer was, 'about 5 minutes before?' When we came down to the lobby at 620am, the lights at the front desk were out and no one was to be found. So, we just walked the short distance to the ferry which was not a big deal but again - speaks to the absolute lack of service that we unfortunately expected given the room rate. The room it self was nice and it was clean. The bathroom was huge but needed to be updated badly. The drain in the shower backed up very quickly. We had a room directly above the dining room and you could hear everything. Overall, not a great stay for us and we won't be returning.

Comfortable historic inn in lovely surroundings with fabulous views of the bay. The staff are friendly, helpful and make the stay that much more relaxing. Room overlooking the bay is a must. Rooms and bathrooms clean and comfortable. Showers have good water pressure. Wifi is spotty but at&t wireless connection worked. A nice place to get away from it all

This Inn is a hidden gem! My husband and I wanted to do a quick last minute staycation and this place did not disappoint! If you are looking for quintessential Maine, look no further. Such a quick and easy ferry ride, I had no idea it was this accessible and its only 20 minutes from Portland! As soon as you step off the ferry you are greeted by your shuttle driver, I called ahead to let them know what ferry I would be on. When you first walk into the Inn the stunning views await you from the porch and the old Island charm takes your breath away. We knew the weather wasn't looking very good but sitting on the porch cuddled up relaxed in the chair while the rain slowly falling down was probably the most peaceful moment I've had in a long time. We grabbed some cards, ordered a bottle of wine and just sat there for a few hours until dinner. The FOOD - oh my gosh, the food was exceptional you can really taste the talent behind each preparation, and is definitely not "hotel" food! I loved the mixture of visitors and local Islander's, you really get a feel of why the island is so special. I was honestly blown away by the level of service and the overall experience at the Inn, we WILL definitely be back! *A good thing to know is that it's easy to get a last minute reservation!

If I could give 0 stars, I would! We originally made reservations and she could not get a hold of anyone, because the message machine and contact info did not say that it was off-season. No one would call or email her back. My mother has tried multiple times to contact this hotel over email and phone for several weeks with no answer. When she finally got ahold of someone, she could not get a clear answer on why she did not hear back. This person did not care and was like whatever, I am calling you now. This is highly unprofessional and is no way to run a business. Even in the off-season, inquiries need to be attended to. I do not know who you have running the reservations, but they need work in customer service and how to treat customers. It takes two seconds to call back and say yes, we received your confirmation or cancellation. She canceled and did not receive a confirmation email that it was canceled. She was worried that she would be charged if you were not aware of the cancellation.
