The accommodation impresses with its delicious breakfasts, friendly staff, and cozy, clean rooms. Guests appreciate the charming ambiance but note the noise from the village clock.

Here for lunch and first impression was of a fairly dingy and badly lit pub. Lunch was okay but nothing special. Friendly staff. Furniture a mix of old brown tables and chairs. Toilets very old school in need of some Tlc. Plenty of nearby parking.

This pub is in desperate need of improvement. Inside it is dark and dingy and the whole place smelled strongly of smoke from the fire during our lunchtime visit. We had a meal which was OK for the price but average pub food, nothing special. As a previous review said, the fish is definitely frozen not fresh. The staff were pleasant and polite and the service prompt. A shame more hasn't been made of this place which has an enviable position in Ashover, but does nothing to take advantage of the extra business this could bring if renovated and brought up to date.

The Old Poets Corner is perfect for a one night stay. It's in a quiet rural location but it was a travel stop for us. Rooms are clean and quiet, named after beers and you get complimentary beer in the room. Bathrooms are dated but clean. Pub offers standards pub grub.

We visited The Old Posts corner on recommendation as we both love fish and chips . We were told that the fish is bought in fresh from Grimsby. There is no way that this was fresh fish. It has no taste. I've had better shop bought fish fingers. It's such a shame as the rest of the meal was amazing. The batter which I was told was gluten free is the best I've had. Such a shame as the place and staff are fantastic.

We booked for x1 night but hardly slept because the Iceberg Room did not feel fresh or clean when we walked in + the bed certainly did not invite you to sleep in it. The bedlinen may have come from the ‘clean linen’ pile but it shouted ‘well used’ with mis-matching pillowcases (including your Granny’s embroidered one), thin duvet, flat pillows, and then we see there’s no mattress protector. Really ???? Mattress protectors are crucial for maintaining cleanliness, preventing bed bugs, allergens, and spills, especially for hotel/rental accommodation. The bathroom felt cleaner, as did the towels - though we would expect a towel each for the 2 of us! No amount of teabags/ bottles of water or prominently displayed bottles of Titanic beers helped us feel like we wanted to stay – unfortunately it was too late for us to go elsewhere + we only felt clean after a shower very early the next morning when we were anxious to leave. The Old Poets Corner / Titanic Brewery should either upgrade their rooms + standards or charge a much lower price to reflect the very basic rooms on offer – customers can then choose accordingly. We do not recommend this accommodation.

Had a Sunday lunch here , absolutely awful and expensive for the poor quality. The meat was dry and looked like pre sliced meat heated up and the veg was hard and tasteless. Not a welcoming pub at all. Staff not very attentive. I would definitely NOT recommend !

What has happened to this place? Terrible atmosphere from the staff who are clearly unhappy. New prospective Manager sat in the place and acknowledged no-one - hope that he isn’t going to run the place in the same manner. Not good. Food appalling - how can you get a sandwich wrong? Supposed to be tuna melt, but came as a cold tuna sandwich with a bit of melted cheese on top- which was also cold. All served on dry bread. Sent it straight back. Waitress offered to replace but had no confidence in the replacement being any better. No offer of a refund. Later on the “chef” came out to deliver food to some other customers and he didn’t inspire confidence with dirty stained clothing and looking unclean himself. 1 star given for the beer which is decent - but that’s it. Have been coming here most weekends for years as it used to be such a great pub with a great atmosphere but too many changes of management has resulted in a deterioration of the place. Wake up Titanic Brewery and smell the coffee!!

Stayed hear to drop out of the rat race and we were very pleased with our stay . We sat outside watching the birds and beautiful hills . Ate like kings and our hosts even popped the big screen down for my husband to catch up on the Euros. Great nights sleep in comfortable and clean bed then ate the best big local breakfast ever !!!!
