Now. We have eaten many times at this pub but yesterday on a pre theatre dinner we had the most unsettling experience. First of all I ordered Crayfish and Avacado as a starter. The taste was good but the starter was avacado free. Odd. I asked the charming waitress about this and she assured me it had avacado in but it was crushed. Let me just say what it lacked in avacado was made up by extra onion. Yup. Then the second course: fish of the day. It was advertised as cod. We were told it was cod. And when it came there was cod there. However, there was also a lot more mackerel than cod. While I don’t dislike mackerel I do dislike it pretending to be cod. Again I asked our charming waitress about this and after a trip to the kitchen she explained all the cod was finished so they supplanted it with mackerel. Well. It was the catch of the day. We were eating at 6pm and no one thought to tell us anything before we complained. Odd, wouldn’t you say? My conclusion: temporary chef. I hope so because we are local and hope to eat there again!

A fantastic stay - we'll definitely be back & I have recommended to friends & family who are all now planning a visit! Adam & Imogen went out of their way to be helpful - from allowing an early check in to making sure we were fed even though the chef was up against things with the restaurant booked out for a private event. Lovely room, with pristine bed linen & super comfy super king bed. Excellent breakfast. Loved sitting in the cosy bar by the fire after a great walk up Kingley Vale. Thank you!!!

We were attending a wedding nearby at Farbridge, and I booked three rooms for the six of us. Great staff, very helpful on the many times I phoned beforehand and answered my various questions. Very kindly let us get into our rooms early at 1pm as we were leaving for wedding at 2pm. Our room overlooked the beer garden, beautifully furnished, small but had everything we needed. Nice big bed, think it was a superking 6 foot. Hairdryer in room, with kettle, coffee machine, etc. A bottle of body wash/shampoo and a bottle of conditioner in the shower. We didn’t have any issues with noise from the garden as we didn’t get back until after closing. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was very good. Usual offerings, very well presented, and delicious, especially the sausage. Good coffee too. Served by a lovely young lady who was very polite and efficient. Plenty of parking. Would highly recommend. Thankyou for having us

A wonderful country pub with accommodation. We had lunch - and that was fabulous. The brill was... well, brill! Then we were treated to an evening of live music before retiring to our room. Absolutely spotless and the huge bed was super comfortable! Next morning we had breakfast and that was excellent too. I highly recommend this country pub!

So, the 9 of us had booked our table ahead of our weekend away together and we were not disappointed. Toby gave us a warm welcome and delivered excellent customer service. The food was fabulous. I had the chicken liver parfait and the mushroom fettuccine…both were superb.

The Horse and Groom is a lovely old pub, with the room was very nicely decorated and extremely clean, the only downside for me was the bed was a bit soft. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious, and staff extremely friendly. Breakfast was also very tasty.

Had a brilliant couple of day’s stay at the Horse & Groom recently, that we had booked for a group of 8 of us. We have been meeting up annually since retiring a few years ago. What’s not to like!!! Great location, a few miles west of Chichester, very central to plenty of attractions and activities - see their website. Chichester itself is a beautiful city with a stunning cathedral and lots else to see and do. Plenty of car parks, Northgate being very handy for town centre and also serves the famous Festival Theatre. Food is absolutely excellent, the rooms very comfortable with great beds, but the thing that really made it special for us was the staff. They were brilliant - everyone from the managers, bar and waitressing staff to room servicing. The Pub itself is very smart and stylish, lots of lovely artworks and paintings that creates a very nice atmosphere ! All this made such a lovely stay for us, big thanks to all the staff…shall be visiting again ! Mel and the gang

The most beautiful little pub and guesthouse! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - from the walks, the amazing dinner, the friendly service - everything was gorgeous. The surrounding area is beautiful and fun to explore. Our dogs had a great time, too.
